Time for Change

Life is just moving right along. Not much planned for the week.
I spent the last two days working on my living room. It all started when I decided to shampoo the carpet in the living room. I have one of those little Bissell carpet shampooers .It works really well, but I don't do a wall to wall job with it. I go around most of the furniture, but I had a brilliant idea. Why don't I change the furniture a tad bit. I am so sick of it being the same old way all the time. I bought a new TV three or four years ago and it weighs about a ton and cannot be moved, except with dynamite. Now everybody has the little thin ones that you can easily move. My TV shall not be moved, but I can move everything else. I moved the couch by shoving and pushing and sitting and resting and nudging and elbowing and pushing some more and resting and shoving until I got it in the right spot. Now the chairs are just about as bad. I had no idea that stuff was so heavy. My brilliant idea is getting a little dimmer all the time. I had to sit and rest more than I shoved and pushed, but I finally got everything where I want it. Makes the whole room look totally different. I was too tired after all that to shampoo the carpet so this morning I tackled the carpet. It was a piece of cake compared to moving the furniture. I am enjoying the new look and I think it was worth the effort. I need to tackle a couple closets next. I hate doing closets, I take all the stuff out and end up putting it right back in the closet again. I wish I could be like a friend I once had. If she bought a new set of sheets, she threw the old ones out. The same with underwear, if you buy a new pair of bloomers, throw the old ones out. I just can't bring myself to do that yet, what if I need them again...???

Used underwear is unimaginably useful!

next time you want to shampoo a carpet, we have one and I'll cook...

Now that's an offer I can't turn down.

OK, my Husband is not making you shampoo our carpet for dinner. We will feed you for free. Oh that's an article for the local paper I can see the head line now "GrandSon in Law makes 80 year old blogging Grandmother wash carpets for food"
My hopes of new furniture arrangements are always grander than my energy.

A television that can only be moved through dynamiting it. That's funny. Do you even watch television these days? I found blogging a more engaging activity, or shall I say blogging proves to be a more demanding taskmaster. :)

Jan, you're right about the watching TV. I have found reading peoples blogs highly entertaining. Finding something to write about in mine is extremely challenging. If it wasn't for all my birthday post, I'd have no post at all.

I cannot stop laughing only because I have done the furniture moving which has in the past resulted in a short hospital stay for wrenching my back and once being bound for a cracked rib while just pushing a dresser down the wall. I once lectured my children that when a new toy came into the house then an old toy had to go to charity. "light bulb moment" so now I do the same, and sheets and unmentionables have left when new ones showed up. It is a nice way to live and drawers and cabinets look much better. Another new thing is if my kids say they like something I just give it to them, they are going to get it someday so it might as well be today. Good post but I have rambled on and on...

Oh Gramma, you are a lady after my own heart! I have pushed and shoved and struggled to move this heavy furniture endless times! It never gets easier, only more difficult with each passing year! Oh, to be 30 again!!! I too have trouble getting rid of things, especially the old unmentionables! You're so right, I might need those in a pinch! Love you blog, you make me laugh and that's a precious gift!

Cleaning is a Pandora's Box. You clean one thing and it makes something else look bad. I won't shampoo carpets any more. We get them professionally cleaned since all that lifting and shoving is better done by someone younger and stronger. Maybe that's the time to rearrange the furniture.

Clutter is the bain of my life and I've written several blogs about it myself.

Your comment about moving furniture with dynamite made my husband and I laugh! That was brilliant :)

Spring is surely near when we start moving furniture and rearranging closets!
