The Last Straw

I think this might be a comedy of errors, although I’m not laughing very hard. If you have been reading my other post, this is to let you know that I finally have an appointment with the orthopedic doctor. My doctor's office told me again that they had sent the Fax to the orthopedic office. That makes about six times they have told me they faxed it. I told her that I had called the orthopedic place and they have never received the fax. I also gave her the fax number. She said they would fax it again. They got it right this time. Now I have to wait until the 18th of March. Had they taken care of it a week ago I would be getting in a week sooner. Why do I have to do their work for them? They should have followed up the first time I called and found out the fax didn’t go through. Would that be expecting too much? Instead they kept telling me it would take the orthopedic place up to a week to set up the appointment. Yes, just to set up an appointment. Maybe if they would fire all the dumb people and hire smart ones it would turn the economy around. It was just a thought.

I once made a dentist give me a copy of his billing because his biller was incompetent. I got him paid in 10 days including mailing. It isn't rocket science.

Glad you at least have the appointment.

Congratulations on making them doing their job, Lorrene! Monday call the orthopedic doc and tell them to call you if they get a cancellation. Emphasize how much pain you're in. Good luck!

Great job we really do have to take control of our own healthcare if we want anything done. Do call and ask about cancellations.
Love you, hope the next couple of weeks fly by and you get that knee fixed ASAP.

I am glad to hear of your apt. finally... I also agree with Stephanie... I would call every single day in-between and ask every day about cancellations. Even if they don't get a cancellation they might bring you in sooner so that you'll stop calling... LOL. I hope you feel better. Your still in our prayers.

Well speaking from the healthcare side of things...If your doc happens to use the chart connect system... those faxes NEVER go through. They will swear up and down til they are yelling at us that they sent it 4 times and we won't have it. Glad you called..

I am happy you finally have your appointment. I too wonder why these people can't get their act together? I am awaiting Medicare approval for a surgery. I thought, well it just takes Medicare a while, red tape and all you know? Well, come to find out the silly girl in the doctor's office hasn't even filed for the apporval until I called and put a fire under her! Two weeks wasted while I suffer!!! ARGGGGHHHH!!!!

Hoping your pain meds help until you see the doc!

Although wait times may be long in Europe for "elective" surgeries and that they pay a great deal in taxes, the medical coverage in most of Europe is better than that which we have here.

Being the sqeaky wheel is the best one can do when dealing with medical and governmental offices. It is sad that we must make a career of being annoying.

I have often felt this way about the people who work for medical insurance companies. Do they require a certain amount of mental density in their emplyees? Several insurance companies have felt my wrath.

Good luck at your appointment - hope it's worth the wait:)
