Medical Bill Goofs

Medical billing goofs. Am I the only one this happens to or do others have this problem. I am not even fully recovered from my knee surgery and have already received my first goofed up bill. I am fully covered by Medicare and supplement insurance, but for some reason they send me the balance of the bill after Medicare pays their share. I receive the bill and my blood pressure rises a few notches. I call them and remind them that I have supplement insurance. They look at my records and agree with me. They always tell me they will take care of it. Why are they not trained to do the billing correctly in the first place? It doesn’t happen every single time, but it has happened a few times. I guess I shouldn’t get my tail in a knot over it, but I’m not in a very good mood.

I think it happens to everyone. I saw this on news the other day, there are people that specialize in finding errors in medical bills. It makes me wonder how many times I have over paid them.

Yes, indeed, it does happen to most, if not all. It is very alarming, because there is always that fear that you somehow ended up in one of those bad "loopholes." The worst is to have to see how much each measly thing is billed. Outrageous and no wonder our medical system is in trouble. I'd prefer NOT to know how much this tired body cost, thanks.

I am with you on this one. Every time we take a trip to the doctor and need any lab work done or such it seems that they have trouble passing on our insurance info to the lab. ... Then here come the bills.. See we have had the same ins. too for ever. For some reason they like to send me letters asking for any second insurance plans that may have come up??... Um no.

enjoy your day and keep your head up. Pleasant thoughts. Jaime

Oh Grandma, I think your frustration is pretty much universal regarding the healthcare field! I too cannot understand why the people in the office can't just do their jobs right the first time around?!!!! Hope they've got it all straightened out now. Have a good day!

Many hugs.............

Yup, I had a doctor's appointment this morning and I am just waiting for them to screw something up. They finally decided it might be a good idea to officially change my last name in their system, since I've been married for six years now...gee, ya think? I've tried to get them to change it before to no avail, so we'll see if they manage it this time...my doctor is great, but the ever-changing personnel at the front desk? Not so much.

I hope your knee is doing better, and that the billing headaches subside soon as well...
