Midnight

A few years ago when I took my walks at Randall park, I would always take my camera along. This time I took a picture of this dog. His owner said his name was Midnight. She told me about the nightmare that had happened to them and Midnight. A couple years before her husband and friends and Midnight went up to Mt Rainier to do some hiking. They decided it would be safe to take the leash off of Midnight so he would be able to run and have a little fun. It was a mistake because a squirrel came scurrying by and Midnight went into hot pursuit. He chased the squirrel to the top of the next ridge and the squirrel disappeared and so did Midnight.
They hurried up the hill and looked down far below. Midnight had caught himself on a small ledge and kept from falling on to the bottom of the hill and certain death. It was a very steep wall, but had some slope to it. Midnight began to claw his way up literally lying on his stomach and inching his way up a few inches at a time.
They were at the top urging him on and holding their breath because they knew any minute he could fall. She said it was the longest time of her life.
Midnight finally made it to the top and her husband grabbed him in his arms and they hurried to the nearest water they could find, so he could get a drink. Midnight dived into the water to do his drinking and didn’t want to get out. It's amazing what you can do when you have a rooting team behind you.
I never learned the fate of the squirrel.

Puffs is My Pet Peeve

A tissue is not necessarily what you get when you buy a box of the things. I bought the Kleenex brand. Kleenex in the past had very nice tissues. They now sell the one nostril kind. They are still two ply, but very small and thin. If you have two nostrils you might want to consider Puff’s. When I caught this latest bug that is going around I needed the large industrial type so I grabbed a box of Puff’s while at the store. Came home and opened up box and pulled out a tissue and stuck my nose into it, then proceeded to gag for about 15 minutes. I had picked up a box of Puffs with Vicks. If there is an odor I hate more, I’m not sure what it is. Why can’t things be left alone. If they are going to change something they should at least tell you what they did to it, by printing it on the box. The manufacturers always think they need to change everything. They love making things a little smaller so they can get more of your money for less of their product.
I just feel like griping a little. I could go on and on, but guess I’ll drop it.

Out of Commission

Tylor and Dylan a few years ago

I have been under the weather for a few days. I either had a super bad cold or a lighter version of the flu. Not sure which, but I have had two flu shots or I might have been a lot sicker. Anyway I feel more like a human today than I have for awhile. The cough lingers on.
It has been warmer with sun and no rain. Wow! Does that ever look good after a long rainy spell. My twin grandsons (age almost 16) walked from their house to see me yesterday. It was a long walk. They called their mother to come and get them when they wanted to go home. I guess they had enough of the spring weather.
This is it for now.

Wait is Getting Shorter

The last word is the Stork is circling a hospital in Ellensburg. He will be making his delivery some time to day. That is all I know so far.

Wait Awhile and Chill Out

This is Kenny

Life in the senior lane just gets to be more of a pain with each passing day. I never go anywhere because when you go someplace you spend money. Since the senior population didn’t deserve a pay raise this year, there is never enough money to stretch to the end of the month. So I stay home more than ever.
This week I have had another reason to stay home besides the lack of money. My son asked me to print off his temporary driver’s licenses that he got from the DOL on the Internet. He didn’t have any ink in his printer. He said he would pick it up that day, so I stayed home. He was a no-show, but said he would come the next day.
I stayed home the next day and waited for him. He was a no-show again. The next day I awaited his arrival and he was a no-show. He said he would come over the next day, but his licenses had arrived in the mail and he no longer needed the temporary one. "But how about all those Pepsi cans I saved for you, and you were going to put a new battery in my smoke alarm, and remember that piece you were going to glue back on my oven handle? " I asked. "Oh, I forgot about that, I’ll be over about noon tomorrow," he said.
Isn’t it pathetic that I have to whine around like that to trick one of my kids into coming over for a few minutes.
He has one of those can-crushers and can save a ton of cans before cashing them in. A few years ago I saved cans and finally got a garbage sack full. I put my cans in the trunk of the car and off to the recycle place I went to cash then in. The man weighed my cans and dropped 87 cents into my hand. I grumbled all the way back to the car, "I wonder how much gas it took to drive here, with the price of gas It probably cost me money to give them my empty cans". I decided then and there that I would never recycle another tin can. I just couldn’t bear to throw those cans in the garbage so I began saving them for Kenny.
Imagine my shock when he actually showed up today. Now I’m back to only having one excuse for staying home. I'm getting hard up for blog material.

My Little Sunday Sermon

Today is a day of rest. So I stayed home from church and rested. I am sort of between churches now. There is one on Tieton Drive and one on 56th.

Our church had a greeting session. They would stop the service and everybody was to greet those near them. A really big pain in the rear as far as I was concerned.

One time a man in the pew behind me actually said to me, "I only see you here on Sunday mornings". I replied, "meaning what"? He didn’t respond he had to move on to the next person. I did not misunderstand him, it was very clear. He was right about my only being there on Sunday mornings. The only place I ever hear the term ‘pew warmers’ is from church people. Such as, "Oh you know Mrs. Dolittle never volunteers to do anything, she is just one of those pew warmers". Or this, "He never pays his tithe, he will have to account to God for that some day". Or this, "They only come to church on Easter and Christmas". I do believe some people go to church because they think they are earning their way into heaven. You don’t have to earn your way, and in fact, couldn’t earn your way no matter how hard you try. Christ paid your way when he died on the cross. That is, if you believe it and ask him for forgiveness. Going to church is wonderful if you can do it without getting into that Self-righteous attitude.
Another thing I heard a few times was remarks about whether somebody was truly born again or not. Since when are we assigned the position of deciding who is truly born again. I thought that was God’s place to do that.
One time the pastor stood on the platform and screamed to the flock, "If you’re a Christian, than act like it". I think it’s the height of self-righteousness. Read in your bible what God thinks of self-righteousness.

We're Still Waiting

I saw a Stork fly over my house a while ago. I think he was looking for Ellensburg. This means I still don't have that new Great Grand Child yet. Today is the official due date so maybe the Stork is on schedule. Sixty years ago my first baby was due January 31st and arrived February 6th.
My! how time flies. It was really that long ago.
Hurry up baby, we are waiting for you !!!

The Way it is

Life just keeps going on and on. Hoarders continue to hoard. The word "democrat" has become a cuss word.
The Orange crop froze out so they have to raise the price of OJ. It happens every year. Some where a crop freezes so we have to pay more for the Juice. The ‘Happy People’ are going to Hollywood. If you have no talent, you can’t go. I am speaking of American Idol of course. Those with the least talent are the ones that get downright belligerent when they don’t get chosen.
Rush Limbaugh never runs out of insults to inflict on people. He knows how to keep his name in the news. Some people just can't be happy unless they get lots of attention.
May I ask? What is so entertaining about setting your kids and yourself on fire and running around in a circle? There used to be an old song called "Stop the World and let me off". I am beginning to feel that way, but then I would miss all those enchanting commercials about using used catheters. A visual you really want to think about while eating lunch.

Facts of Life

I guess it’s not going to rain hard enough to clean the car so I will need to go to the car wash. (Save a lot of money if it would just rain. teehee) When you have an old car that is dirty it looks ten times tackier than a newer one that is dirty. Why is that? Does anybody know the answer? I guess it’s just a fact of life.
Not much goes on around here. One of my Grandson’s used to come over several times a week and one day I yelled at him for skipping school and I think he is afraid of me because I haven’t seen him since. I just sent him a text message and told him if he wants to come over I will use my inside voice the next time. He hasn’t answered me yet.
I am expecting a new Great Grandchild any day now. It is so exciting. Tomorrow will be the baby’s Grandma’s birthday and I think it would be so perfect if he/she comes tomorrow. If it happens I will let you know.
