The Corrupt Years

Is this decade going to be known as ‘The Corrupt Years’ or is it going to continue to be even more corrupt.  Identify theft, if someone gets your Social Security number and other personal information, they can ruin your credit history in a very short while. It sometimes takes months or longer to straighten it out.

If a package is left by your front door, it very likely will be stolen if left there very long.

You can’t warm your car up in your driveway unless you lock it.

I even had my handicap plaque stolen out of my car twice. Think of how many are using plaques that are stolen. I make double sure I lock my car doors now.

Even if you leave your house locked when you leave, you may return to find someone has broken a window to get in, and stolen whatever they wanted. Shoplifting is another big one.

Now the scariest one of all is the bank hackers that stole a billion dollars from banks. The article in the paper said it may still affect the consumers.  How can it get much worse?

Things that Make Your Hair Turn Grey

Life is so full of money grabbers and other greedy bodies,  it’s impossible to keep ahead of their game.
Charter Cable Co must hire a full time staff to decide how to suck a little more money out of you. Every service they offer has a variable price. Internet, telephone, TV service.
Why can’t they put a set rate on each one? My garbage can has a set rate. They don’t send a letter telling me I’ve used the can for a year so now I have to pay another 20 a month for it. The Cable Co. would. In July of 2015 my telephone goes up another $10.00 because it was on a special rate for a year. They advertise on TV constantly that you get internet for $29.99.  They don’t explain that it’s a one year rate.
The Cable company decided to raise my bill $5.00 a month, no explanation so I called to find out why, and it’s because there is a TV-Surcharge added beyond their control.
I found the following link.
It’s rather interesting.

Scammers and Such

I came into this life 83 years ago. It has been a rough row to hoe at times, but I hoed it.
Now I’m in my twilight years. That means my sun has dropped below my horizon, and that isn’t all that dropped below my horizon. My income dropped. Now I bet you thought I was going to say something different.

Dumb things happen every day. This is the dumbest one that happened to me recently.  My phone rang and when I answered it the man asked for somebody I had never heard of so I told him that he had the wrong number. He said, “Ma’am, it says right here 965-84” at that point the phone went dead. I was sorry that he hung up because that was one argument I might have won. You can’t win them all.

Scammers are getting thicker by the day. I keep getting an email from one of them. In the subject line it says. “You have Received 900.00USD Cash Deposited.” They are waiting for me to respond so they can deposit 900-dollors into my account. This one must be an overseas scammer. They don’t know how to spell dollars. Most Americans know how to spell dollars. I have unsubscribed to the letter twice because they gave that option. But they keep sending a new one every few days. It is either and out-and-out scam or one of the loan sharks that would let you know it was a loan after it was accepted and then charge 90 percent interest.  If you’re interested, I can forward the letter to you. Maybe they would deposit into your account.

Nothing much going around this part of the woods. Email scammers and wrong numbers is about all.
Till Next Time

What Makes People Tick

A judge arrested for DUI.  He will soon be back on the bench judging other DUI people.
He’ll have sympathy for them now because he has walked in their shoes. Just who we need in our judicial system, somebody who has been there.

A mother murdered her 13-month old baby with her bare hands because he would not stop crying. She won that round, he won’t cry anymore. People that have anger problems and uncontrolled temper issues should have themselves sterilized. The going trend seems to be, if you have killed your child just throw him in the weeds some place and tell authorities he was kidnapped.

A man fires a semiautomatic rifle at the White House. Ingenious thought out plan. He can spend a little time in prison contemplating what he could have done differently. He believed attacking the White House was part of a personal mission from God. Well, think again Bubba, if God wanted the White House attacked he wouldn’t need your help.

Now that takes me to Herman Cain. God convinced him to enter the race for president, but God must have forgotten about all those women that were sexually harassed. Or maybe they are just making it up. Stick to your guns Herman, they can’t prove anything.

And then there was Penn State. Thank God, the victims are finally being heard.  Does it seem strange to anyone that so many pedophiles, scammers, and cheating swindlers are being exposed. It’s about time. What makes people tick?

One Tin Can at a Time

Why can’t something be done about the deceitful marketing that is going on? It’s a form of fraud, one tin can at a time. Soup cans and ice cream containers must have anorexia. They keep getting smaller, but the cost is the same. This also applies to cereal boxes, and almost everything you can think of. Cereal makers just put less cereal in the box. The ounces in a container of Orange Juice will vary per brand. Toilet paper is more narrow and less paper on a roll and also a larger cardboard roller.
Exactly how does this fraud differ from the early days when the grocer put his thumb on the scale while measuring your crackers or whatever you were buying. They called them charlatan’s back then. At least they would do their fraud right in front of you. Today they sit behind their big desks and cook up new ways to defraud us out of our money.  They probably have big board meetings and discuss it and come up with new deceitful ways to take our money.
Do they think the general public is just too stupid to notice and if we do notice, what can we do about it. Their defense is, if they put the correct amount or measurement on the container then it is not their problem. If they are not trying to cheat us, why change the size of the product? I suppose they think we won’t buy it if they raise the price. Let that be our choice. The gas companies charges more and we still buy it. It would be the same with food.  Eggs and meat are about the only thing they haven’t figured out a way to deceive us with. I suppose they could make an egg container that would only hold 10 eggs. Charge the same price for it of course. It’s the same as cutting off the top of the blanket and sewing it on the bottom to make it longer.
Marketers wake up and smell the roses and may you get a thorn stuck in your nose.

Lets put the ice cream in the soup can.

Rantin and Ravin

I spent most of yesterday trying to get a virus off of my laptop. My AVG anti-virus popped up a message that they  had blocked a virus and  my computer was protected, but my browser wouldn't open. Frustration to the max. I kept getting a message from some  eset source that was telling me my computer had a virus and  I needed to upgrade my anti-virus. It had to be paid for before they would take care of it. I was highly suspicious of their offer so I didn't buy it. I finally noticed that I had two icons on my desktop that I thought were both AVG anti-virus. I looked more carefully to see why I would have two of them. The same identical icon, but one said AVG free.anti virus and the other one said eset anti-virus. So I googled eset and found that it was a totally different anti-virus company. I remembered downloading it a couple weeks ago because I thought it was AVG wanting me to upgrade. After a couple weeks they started the pop up messages that they could  repair my computer. So I clicked okay. It repaired about 400 errors and if I wanted it to correct the next 740 errors I would need to buy the full version. I cannot say enough unkind words about them and their unscrupulous tactics. When I realized it was a different company it only took about 2 seconds to find the thing and  uninstall it. Suddenly my browser was working just fine. I had no more popup's about a virus.
That sort of thing should be regulated somehow. Many people would probably go ahead and buy from the crooks.  Just like magic that would have ended the problem.  Or some people would have taken their computer to a shop and paid them to figure it out. If I was flushed with money I would have done that too.
I have more time than money so I went after it like a dog after a bone. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
I think they tried to put a virus on it and my anti-virus service didn't allow it. I don't know how they kept my browser from opening. I even tried another browser and it wouldn't open either.
