Don't Lose Your Shoes

I have the strangest dreams. I dreamed I was visiting a cemetery and people started coming out of the graves. It was downright weird. One woman was looking down at what she was wearing and  was angry because her husband had buried her in such an ugly dress. Then she decided it wasn't that bad.
Another dream was more like a nightmare. I lived in a much more elegant place than this one and it had a large patio as I opened the door I saw a very large black panther lying there just waiting for his noon meal to come a little closer. It didn't take me long to wake up from that. Most of my dreams I am driving a car and trying to find something and can't find it so I park the car and go into a large building and I look up and down the halls and in the different rooms. I never find what I am looking for and when I wake up I never remember what I'm looking for. I have dreamed that one several times. I'm always dreaming about shoes. I don't have a shoe fetish and never have, but in the dream I am trying to find my shoes and one time I dreamed I borrowed shoes from Judge Judy. Or someone took my shoes. Now I know what I'm looking for in the other dream. My shoes of course.
Today is a holiday day, but to me it's like a hollow day. kind of empty.  Nothing to do.

As The World Rocks

The world has turned into one big money grabbing operation. It’s called marketing skill, but in reality it’s cheating the public skill. Purpose for it is so the higher ups can draw the biggest possible check, and the CEO’s can add another billion to their bulging bank accounts.
It is now happening in the stores that sell used clothes and other items for the low income people. Their items just keep getting higher until it’s hardly affordable by most of their shoppers. Yet their employees work for a small wage. It is supposed to be a non-profit business. They probably get a great tax break and still cheat the public. Maybe they are the worse culprits of all.
Most things are made as cheaply as possible so it will wear out in a short while. Many shelf items in a grocery store are in smaller containers, and still charging the same price or more.
Even the Dollar stores are in on the cheating action. Now they sell miniature sizes of a product that was formerly sold in the regular size.
Many of the people that live on SSI are not deadbeats as they are classified by the general public. Many people are unable to get a job because they act or look peculiar at the interview. Some get extra nervous and freeze up and can't remember anything they planned to say. Shyness is often viewed as being unfriendly. Who wants to hire someone that may be unfriendly whether they work in public or just with other employees.

Most people on SSI have been thoroughly checked out to make sure they deserve it. There will always be cheats that will lie and manipulate their way into receiving a check.
When they receive a measly little raise from the government, the food stamps are cut back so where is the raise?
Oh well, tis  the season to be jolly. You would never know it if you listened to me.

Holidays

These blogs are getting too complicated for me. Something is wrong with this one. It seems to be okay if I open it with the Internet Explorer, but if I open it with Chrome it's a mess. I have no idea how it looks to others.
People have moved on, why look at a blog when you can hear from everyone on Facebook. If you agree with this say amen. All those sentimental plaques are okay, but when you see fifty of them a day it gets a little much. If you agree with this say amen. If you have someone in heaven say amen. If you don't say, amen, does it mean they are in hell? If anyone that has reached adulthood, you can be assured they have lost a loved one so we all have someone in heaven. If you agree say amen.
My parents attended a little country Pentecostal church when I was a youth.  One corner of the church was called the amen corner. I doubt if that was an official title, but those men that sat in that corner said amen a lot. I think Facebook has an amen corner.
Since it's a holiday day I have nothing to do but wait for the end of the day and tomorrow will be the holiday so I will sit that one out as well.
Have a Happy Holiday !!!!
Sassy says, share this and say amen.

Celebrations

A more recent picture.

Memorial day in the late 30’s and early 40’s was a day of real celebration. Anyway, it was if you lived in the country in Oklahoma.
The country church we attended was located in the cemetery, called Bethel. I’m not sure which came first, the church or the cemetery.  The little brown shack was located behind the church. From there were the many graves, also by the side of the driveway. One side of the church was just a meadow, no graves were there at that time. There were a few cedar trees  along the driveway going into the church grounds.
Preparing for memorial day started a day or so before, and it meant picking as many flowers as you had and putting them into buckets of water. Paper flowers made with crepe paper was another decoration that many created for the occasion. A gallon or two of lemonade and iced tea would be prepared and kept in a tub of ice. Ice came in blocks and if you wanted it crushed, you placed the block in a gunny sack and beat the heck out of it with whatever they used. I don't remember the details.
It was an all day affair, because you met all the family members and neighbors. The kids ran around, and had a great time playing in the driveway. You were not allowed to run in the cemetery because stepping on a grave was a grave no-no. Adults milled around and visited all the graves of people they had known and much visiting and laughing and just catching up on each others lives. It would last most of the day and enjoyed by all.
The church is no longer in the cemetery, and the part that was empty has now been filled. I have family buried there, my brothers, parents, grandparents, uncles.
This is something I should have posted on Memorial day, but I’m always at least a day late.
When I was a kid it was always referred to as Decoration day. Anyway, my mother called it that. She may have been the only one.
My family started a family tradition several years ago. It was a family reunion that was celebrated in May. There were always strawberries galore, and somehow the special day was dubbed, Strawberry Day. I am not sure who named it, maybe someone in the family knows. It was one gigantic picnic in someone’s yard. The family grew larger and Strawberry Day grew larger. I think the day first started as a birthday party, because Dad and Ray (a son) shared the same birthday which was May 26th. Finally a grandson was born on Strawberry day. That made the day even more special.  There were other grand kids that came close to being born on the special day. When a baby was due in May, we all crossed our fingers, hoping it would be born on Strawberry day. The family has let Strawberry day slip away since our parents and a couple older siblings have passed away. It was nice while it lasted. I was only able to attend one Strawberry Day because I lived so far away. I think it was the last one they had. I remember it was so cold that day, we ended up in the house. It was at Gene and Glenda’s that year and the house was bulging at the seams.
