Communication Problems

Some day they will find a surgery that will correct the problem.

I called a medical place that I buy supplies from on the wrong day. There are all kinds of doctors, foot doctor, head doctor, eye doctor, etc. My sleep doctor thought I should have a new mask for my C-pap. So I waited a couple days and called the medical supply place.
The phone rang a hundred times, and finally Ms Sorehead came on, a real living human being. She was not happy, not happy at all.
I told her my doctor wanted me to have a different C-pap and my question is, “Will Medicare pay for it, since I just got one in April?” She said, “No, they only pay for one every ten years.”  “TEN YEARS?” I screeched. It’s getting late in the day and I may be dead in ten years. I was thinking that maybe they could forward it to me. I kept that thought to myself because I can tell you, without fear of contradiction, Ms Sorehead was not finding me very humorous.

I said that I didn’t want the whole operation, I just want the mask. “Well, that is different.” She roared.”  “Yes, they will pay for a mask.” Then I asked, with a trembling voice, if the Dr had called the order in yet. “No, they have not.” She said. So I said, “Goodbye.”
The next day, I drove over there to pick it up. This time a young man helped me.  He offered me a chair behind the desk with him. Wasn’t that sweet of him. Truth is the place is such a zoo, there was no place in front of the desk unless I wanted to sit on the counter.  He put everything into the computer, and got the mask. While we were discussing it, I thought I should make sure Medicare was going to pay for it.  He said, “No, you got the last one in April, and they only pay for a new one in six months.”  I would need to wait until October.  I thought to myself, how much can a little plastic cost, I will just buy it. So I asked him how much it would cost. He said, “ around 200 dollars.” I will wait until October. I didn’t tell him that Ms Sorehead had told me Medicare would pay for it.
If anyone wears a C-Pap for sleep apnea, you may not have heard this. I have been on one for a few years, and had never been told that the section that, fits over your nose needs to be replaced every month or two, depending on which type you have because they start leaking. I found out the one I am using can be replaced twice a month. The mask always works great when I first get a new one, and then they start leaking after about a month, and it keeps me awake. So I got the new nose section and it was wonderful. They had told me about the filters that need to be replaced and always ask if I need more, but nobody had ever mentioned the nose section needing to be replaced.

Dieter's Psalm

I found this Dieter’s Psalm, and I revamped it a little to fit my assessment of the situation.

DIETER'S PSALM

Strict is my diet. I must not want.
It maketh me to lie down at night hungry.
It leadeth me past the candy aisle.
It trieth my willpower.
It leadeth me in the path of starvation
for my fattened hippy state.
Yea, though I walk through the aisles
of the pastry department, I will
buy no sweetrolls for they will
fatten thee.
The cakes and the pies, they tempt me.
Carb’s begat carb’s, ye must do without.
Tis the unpardonable sin, thou shalt not let in.
Before me is a table set with green beans
and lettuce, and spinach for dessert.
Filleth thy stomach with liquids,
The day's quota runneth oer.
surely calorie and weight charts will
follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the fear of scales forever.

                         AMEN

A Little Humor

This sort of struck me as funny.

Two good ol' boys in a Tennessee trailer park were sitting around talking one afternoon over a cold beer after getting off of work at the local Nissan plant. After a while the 1st guy says to the 2nd, "If'n I was to sneak over to your trailer Saturday and make love to your wife while you was off huntin' and she got pregnant and had a baby, would that make us kin?"

The 2nd guy crooked his head sideways for a minute, scratched his head, and squinted his eyes thinking real hard about the question. Finally, he says, "Well, I don't know about kin, but it would make us even."

Park Day

It was 82 degrees here today so I went to Randall Park. I can no longer walk very far because of my back, but I wandered around a little. First lesson, I learned the hard way, is do not wear Sandals to a park.  Walking in the grass is okay, but not the trail with all the pebbles. So I got a pebble in my shoe the first thing.  I hobbled to a tree with a picnic table under it and sat a long while.
I was not at a loss for company. A lot of folks and their dogs were walking by and I talked to most of them. One woman sat down at my table and we talked for over an hour while her friend was looking for his dog. He has a Siberian Husky and didn’t have the leash on her, so she took off. I guess she found the creek and wouldn’t get out of it. She said the dog loves water. We could see him trying to coax the dog out of the creek. I guess he learned the leash lesson like I learned the Sandal lesson.  When I go again I’ll dig out my clodhoppers and wear them.  I took some pictures of the trees. The next time I’ll park on the end where the duck pond is. At least I can find a duck to take a picture of.

Pictures

Nothing much going on so I will show pictures of the boys. Time marches on and so do they.

Tylor, I don't know where the cat came from or who it belongs to.

Dylan and his new hair style

Tylor and Dylan  a few years ago.  It must have been a few years, note the old
phone with the rotary dial. The younger generation is saying, "What is a rotary dial?"

This is AJ, the oldest Great Grand, and the dog is Izzy.

Imitation Tomatoes

I was doing a Google search to find out how they grow those God-Awful tomatoes we find in our grocery stores. I found this blog and there is also a CNN video in the article that is eye opening as well. Most of the comments at the end of the article have the same feelings I have about them.  I don’t live in Florida, but I’m sure most grocery stores buy them. We have local tomatoes in tomato season that are very good, but most of the grocery stores still sell the imitation tomatoes. Maybe the produce sellers they buy from have some control over it.

VJ Day August 14, 1945

This is a link to the announcement of the surrender of Japan. This was the official ending of WW2. If this current war ever ends, will there be a celebration such as this? I don't think anything can top this. We celebrated when Germany surrendered as well.

Grandkids

This is Leah, it was taken last Christmas.

This is Chloe, taken recently.

The weekend was fun. My daughter and her lesser half came over from Tacoma. In case you think I’m despicable, you should hear the things he calls me.  Now we’re almost even.
My granddaughter and her other half, and their daughter came over and we went out to eat. It was fun, except I was seated directly under a freezing ice-cold blast of air. They should furnish overcoats for those who get seated in that chair.
Chloe the Great Grand was entertaining to say the least.
Nothing new, nothing old.
Till next time.
