Hit the Hay

Well, it's time to hit the hay. 11PM and all is quiet on the home front. It doesn't matter how sleepy I am when my head hits my pillow my brain goes into high gear. Oh, I forgot to take something out of the freezer. Oh, I was going to make sure the back screen was completely closed because the wind is expected to get high and mighty. Oh, I forgot to take that stupid Miralax. I forgot to take my hearing aids out. I have to remember to buy some distilled water for the CPAP. I wonder if I remembered to pay the water bill. $145.00 how could I forget to pay that. I didn't use that much water, I must be paying for the neighbors water too.
Well, tomorrow will come early so I better try to get some sleep.

More Ramblings

When I was a kid the only movie you saw was in a theater. Television wasn't here at that time. I would go to a movie on Saturday afternoon if I could beg a dime from my Dad. Before the movie began there would be a News announcement. They would announce things that were going on in other countries and I was fascinated with it. The news reel was as much fun as the movie.
The movies I saw were usually a cowboy movie as we called them at the time. Shoot em ups!
Guns blazing and men staggering out of the saloon, not because he was drunk but because he had just been shot. Talk about gun smoke, we have a killing every few days around here. There was even some talk about making backpacks for the school kids bulletproof. I think it was shot down (pun intended) as being a little ridiculous.
Chris and I went for a drive yesterday to see all the beautiful fall colors. Bright green trees with gold and orange trees scattered everywhere.
She took me to Wallyworld so I could buy some yarn. If I didn't know how to crochet or work a crossword puzzle I'd go all the way nuts. I'm only halfway there now. Quite frankly I don't give a hoot about movies. Who said 'Quite frankly I don't give a damn'?  I know someone said it!

Little bit of Nothing

I have a new headgear for my CPAP. I think it'll be more comfortable. They gave me a new hose and new everything. It's been a long time since I've had new supplies. I should have asked for them sooner.  I had an appointment with them because they said I needed a fitting. I guess they thought I was just now being set up with one. I think we have everything cleared up now and they said they would have someone deliver them to me tomorrow. I barely got home and they were knocking on the door with the supplies. I appreciate the rapid service.

It was so nice to get out of the house for a while. The tree's and foliage is so pretty this time of the year. We dropped into KFC and picked up a chicken dinner to have later. It was scrumptious too.
That's about as exciting as it gets around here.

Time Changes

Time changes everything. I've been here 91 years and the world has changed so much. Not all in a good way either but I'm not telling anyone anything you don't already know. Kids walked a mile or so to school and were perfectly safe. It's a little risky to let your kid walk around the block these days.
The fun has been taken out of Halloween trick or treating for the
An excuse to use my favorite picture again.
kids.  I think most neighborhoods are safe but a parent needs to follow them to be sure.

Recently a little boy and his dog were lost in a cornfield. Thank God for Drones. A man had one that could detect heat. It found the little boy. Bad things still happen but so do good things.

I wanted to cook something that called for grated cheese. Chicken enchilada casserole to be exact. I had all the ingredients I thought. So I set everything out and began to put it together. I had it almost ready but putting some grated cheese on the top and I have grated cheese but I didn't know it had mold in it. It's not that old. I was able to rescue enough cheese that wasn't green yet. Don't they make penicillin from mold?  So if I happen to get on the outside of some green cheese it won't kill me.
I also found a jar of soft cheese for Nacho's so I used some of that.
Are we going to turn our clocks back next month or not? I'm not sure so I googled it. I still don't know but I am guessing we do.
Well, that's my life exciting as it gets.

A Bad Day

For the love of Pete!!! I was having a bad day. I thought these blogs were for posting your thought and things you want to talk about.
I wanted to go to Norco and get fitted for a different CPAP that the doctor thought might be more comfortable and was feeling down because I can no longer drive and do what I want when I want. It's not the end of the world, sorry I made it feel that way. I also need a script from the pharmacy. It seems to me that pharmacies could at least mail your meds to you. They say it's a great life if you don't weaken. So don't weaken!
It's dreary here today with clouds and rain.
October seems to be whizzing by. It's half over already.
Have a great day !!!
Don't sweat and don't fret

Boredom

This is the longest day of my life and it's only 8:30 PM. I even thought about suicide but that might hurt and I am a wimp when it comes to pain. I didn't think seriously about it for one second. I believe in God and the hereafter and the beforehand and all that and I know God doesn't want us butting into his business.  When we die it's his decision. I am old and ready to move on but haven't received an eviction notice yet. There is no escalator to heaven, maybe a drone will pick us up and deliver us to our destination.
I untangled a skein of yarn and it took most of the day. I mumbled a few bad words in the process. I sent a couple text messages which I received no response to. No one even reads my text messages.
I haven't done much of anything all day. I need to get a Flu shot but if I never leave the house how would I pick up the Flu. I haven't had a head cold in 10 years or more. No kidding, I think I found the cure for the common cold, it's very simple just hibernate the rest of your life.

Greed and Such

I just made a homemade vanilla flavored coffee drink. Starbucks has nothing to fear about my competition. It isn't too bad but I'd rather have the real McCoy. I wonder how that expression came about. What did McCoy know that no one else knew? Sometime when I have a lot of time on my hands I'll research it and let you know.
If it wasn't for my neighbor I wouldn't have any excitement at all. She woke me from a nap to let me know the mail had not come yet. Then she interrupted my lunch to deliver it to me which is fine, but I really don't give a rat's buttox if I get mail or not. It usually goes straight in the trash can. At least it makes a job for the Garbage collectors. I appreciate her bringing the mail to me. She is a good neighbor. So don't think I am just a grouchy old woman!
My pharmacy called and give me some delightful news, my prescription is ready for pick up so I asked the cost because I will have someone pick it up. I almost went into cardiac arrest, it is a mere $183.60. I'd have to rob a bank to pay for it and I'm just not up to it at this time. It has something to do with an itching problem. I itch from the top of my head to my toes and it could be an allergy, dry skin, or who knows what, but the medicine would probably take care of it. They are going to contact the doctor. Hopefully, they have a generic that will be reasonable. She prescribed two meds and the other one is $35.00. May the people responsible for the price of itching medicine get the seven-year itch!

I miss the wonderful life I had during that time.
Aha Deenie Weenie looked it up for me.
"The real McCoy" was the inventor Elijah McCoy, born in Canada in 1844. He had many different inventions including an ironing board and a lawn sprinkler. Other companies copied his devices, but these never worked as well as Elijah's so people would say, "I want a, and make sure it's a real McCoy."

It's the Berries

When I was a kid the only ice cream we ever had was homemade and we all loved vanilla so that was what we made. I say we but I had very little to do with the making of the ice cream. You couldn't buy crushed ice in that day so when we did our weekly shopping Daddy would go by the ice house and buy a block of ice. The block of ice was put in a burlap bag and crushed with the side of the axe. Mom would make the ice cream with whole milk and maybe some added cream to make it even better, to heck with the arteries, and raw eggs, who knew you weren't suppose to eat raw eggs, and sugar, we were already on the slim side so forget the calories and vanilla flavoring.
I think that is all the ingredients we used in ice cream.  Read a label on a box of ice cream today, it will have ingredients you never heard of. Oh, yes it took an old fashioned ice cream maker to freeze it. Those were the days! But I don't want to go back to those days. You froze your butt off when you got up in the mornings in the Winter until someone made a fire in the pot-bellied stove in the living room.
When it rained in Oklahoma, it poured and thundered and streaks of lightning brightened the sky. I'm sure it still does those things in Oklahoma, but I live in the wild west so I don't see it very often around here.
I said all that to say this, I detest eggnog flavored ice cream. Just make it vanilla or maybe on rare occasions, some chocolate will suffice. No strawberry, raspberry or gooseberry. Why did they name it gooseberry? If anyone knows please let me know the answer.

Roll Turkey

Headlines say Trump to roll Turkey. I have a vision of Trump herding a Turkey down the street. How long does it take to impeach a president?
My neighbor can't talk very plain and I can't hear very well, without the aids, and so when she brought my mail to me and said something, I couldn't understand at first what she was saying. I finally got it. She went bowling recently and bowled an 86. I am bowling illiterate so I don't know if that is good or not. I'm sure it's better than I could do.

I hate this weird weather. Isn't there ever a time when the temperature is perfect? Not around here, I either have to turn the heat on or the air.
I think Amber Guyger went into the neighbor's apartment instead of her apartment and shot her neighbor should do some serious time in prison. Why didn't she ask him what he was doing in her apartment instead of killing him? She had a gun in her hand so she was in charge. How could she not know which apartment was hers? There must be more to the story. I'd hate to be in her shoes.

Rainy Day

How does one save for a rainy day or any day? Prices rise and the income stands still. The only thing I've been able to save is a plastic bag full of plastic bags. I seem to save shoes because I never throw away a shoe. I might wear those again someday! Someday hasn't come yet.
Today I paid big money to have my underground irrigation pipes cleared out so they won't freeze and break in the Winter. I called this morning and they said they could do it today. So when I expect someone to come I can't seem to forget about it and get on with my day. No, I am constantly looking out to see if they are here yet. I even ate lunch in the living room so I could look out the window for the pipe blower. He didn't come until nearly five o'clock. Well, thank goodness he came today so I won't have to start looking for him tomorrow. I think it's an old age thing, I don't remember caring about such things when I was in my prime. In my prime? When was that?

I just love this picture and now that it's October I will show it again, that little great grandaughter is now 10 years old.
