Update

Things are looking much brighter today for the first time since the accident. I am truly seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I actually feel that I will return to normal, and maybe in the not too distant future, I will be able to walk without the walker. I have been really busy. Busy watching TV, reading and working crossword puzzles.
I want to thank everybody who said a prayer for me. August is winding down and Fall is just around the corner. I always love the cooler weather and the beautiful fall colors.

Rambling Brain

Rambling Brain

Here I am and there you are. Life goes on and on and on. So what???
Does anything really mean anything? Sometimes I wonder !!! Doesn’t everybody? Where does it really begin from? Why can’t we remember? Is there really a reason why certain things happen? Why do some people always come out smelling like roses and others are like being on treadmills. Never really going any place, but trying so hard. Always trying so hard. Can there be any kind of reward for that? When does the reward come? If it ever comes will we recognize or remember the effort it took? If we don’t remember anything what is the point? If you don’t like the concept of the whole matter, what can you do about it? So you just stay on the treadmill until someday you fly off of it. Will the discovery come at that time? Lets wait and see. Do we have an option?
My thoughts this day, Sunday July 6th 1997.

More Than You Want To Know

1. I’m entering a left hand turn lane just seconds after the light turned yellow.
2. There are two cars in front of me.
3. I remember thinking the cars in front were moving too slow.
4. The instant the car in front of me had turned enough so I could see.
5. I look into the eyes of a lady gripping her steering wheel and I thought, " this is where I die".
6. I felt the tremendous impact and the seat belts grabbing me. She hit the passenger side of my car on the hinge area of the door.
7. The car didn’t spin, it just skid a few feet. I didn’t hear any broken glass sound.
8. I had instant pain in my chest. It was hard to tolerate. It was a #10 on the pain scale.
9. I sat there and was wishing somebody would come to my door.
10. I knew somebody would have called 911 and I began to wish I could hear a siren.
11. Then the woman from the other car opened my door and was consoling me. She had an airbag and seemed to be okay.
12. Others started coming to the car while we waited for the ambulance.
13. I truly appreciated the company.
14, Finally the ambulance arrives.

On a lighter note: I got cheated because they didn’t turn on the siren on the way to the hospital. I mean, if you’re going to ride in an ambulance you should get the whole nine yards. When I get to the hospital and the male nurse tells me I need to take my top off and put the gown on I remembered what I had on. While choosing my under garments that morning I decided to find a more comfortable bra to wear in this hot weather. I had a red satin bra that was pretty but didn’t do much for the uplift so I never wear it, but I am 80 years old so what do I care about "uplift" in this hot weather. I don’t know what the male nurse thought, but I thought, "Why did I wear this stupid thing?"

Sunny Days Ahead

I am doing much better. My feet have no broken bones and it is just a matter of time until I will feel normal again. My Fred Flintstone brakes were bruised very badly, but each day gets a little better. I will get off the subject and start blogging about other things very soon.
Yabba dabba do !!!!!

Another update

Just a note. I had a follow up appt with my doctor today. X-ray's of my feet have been ordered. I guess I tried to stomp my feet through the floorboard when it happened. Anyway, the feet and chest still hurt and I move like a snail, but no other problems. Karen is staying with me the rest of this week and I am sure I will be able to get by on my own by then. Thank God for seat belts and family.

Chicken News

Why did the chicken cross the road? I wanted to answer this age old question in a cartoon, but you are not allowed to borrow others art work because it might be copyrighted, so I make my own.
Don't make fun of my chicken. It sort of looks like a chicken, don't you think? You are so blessed because I do not have a copyright on it.
On to more mature subjects.
The weather has returned to normal. I just stepped out to go get my mail out of the box and the air show started. I live a few miles from the airport, but they fly over the house, of course. What a noise! it makes you want to run for cover. I was fascinated with it and hope they do it again. Don't ask me what kind of airplanes they are. You'll need to ask Jim, the plane person. He is my grandson-in-law. He is an artist and I know he could draw a better chicken, but he would probably put a copyright on it.

Fat Dumb and Broke

Today while I was out and about I stopped at Safeway for a few things. The clerk asked, "Do you want a Doughnut?" I am not the type to turn down anything that is free and especially if it’s a Doughnut so I immediately said, "Yes, thank you". On the way home I remembered the free Doughnut and thought it was my lucky day and I thought it strange they would be giving out free doughnuts. I couldn’t wait to get home to eat the doughnut so I broke the speed limit and took a short cut (Not really, I just made up that part). Anyway, when I started looking for the doughnut I couldn’t find it. So I decided I must have misunderstood her, but what could she have said that sounds like doughnut. So I said to myself, "Could she have said, Donate? So I looked at my receipt and I had donated one dollar to something. I hate to go into debt for a hearing aid, but I think it’s time. Where do you start? What kind of doctor do you call or are they going to make me start with my regular doctor so he can decide if I really need one. Anybody that is around me for five minutes can tell you that I need one. What kind of hearing aid is the best? I have a million questions and no money, but I’m good-looking.

Itchy Ears

I have been sitting here thinking about my itchy ears and telling myself, I need to go to a doctor and find out what is causing it. They drive me nuts !!! I dig around with a bobby pin until they bleed and then scab over and then they itch worse than ever. I was pondering whether I should call an ear doctor, but I know if I call an ear doctor the first question will be, "Do you have a regular doctor?" I want an ear expert, not a regular doctor. Do you think they care if you want an ear expert? They know best, and you have to do as they say. That leads me into another subject, What do they do in Canada when they call a specialist? All you hear on TV is the announcers crying about how our medical care will be as bad as it is in Canada. I can't see that it's so hot here, how could it get much worse. Excuse me while I itch my ear.
Back to my original subject. My ears have itched most of my life so I suppose I could tolerate it another 10 years or so. I decided to google the subject, so I typed in "Why do my ears itch all the time" Oh me ! oh my ! do I ever have company. Please click on this link for more information on itchy ear problems.
