The party was at the park and it was a beautiful day except for the wind. It was so bad we couldn't have the candle blowing part. We had fun. The food was delicious, and the cake was lip-smacking scrumptious.

Not Much

Blue Seattle

I am at a loss for Blog material. Not much to talk about. I had a nice weekend. Some of my family from Tacoma came over to visit. I enjoyed it very much. I'm having one of those birthdays coming up so we got an early start and celebrated.
The weather is hot and this is better than freezing and snow. Much better !!

Excuse me while I brag.

Cora, Chloe, Emily, Molly, Leah

Three of my Granddaughters, and the little ones are Great Grands.
The girls have been asked if they are triplets. No, they are not triplets.
One is five years older. I am going to tell this story on Cora and I have told it a million times, but I don’t think I have told it on the blog before. Sorry Cora.
Cora was 5 years old when her sisters were born. Some of the family was at our house that day and Karen and Dennis were going to the hospital to visit Nancy and see the new babies. Dennis asked Cora if she would like to go with them to see her new sisters. She said, “NO, I already saw them, besides they’re Yucky.” She learned to love them, and was like their second mother. Cora didn’t have a problem expressing herself at that age and even younger. Before she learned to talk her mother was feeding her peas and Cora kept turning her head, but her mother kept putting them in her mouth. That was the day she learned to talk. Her face turned red, she blew those peas across the room and began to speak in a foreign language we had never heard before, I think she was making up the words as she went along. Her mother got the message. She didn’t feed her any more peas.
As to the twins, I think I better explain the reason they are dressed alike in this picture is because they met at their parent’s house and had not consulted each other about what they were going to wear. Dressing alike is strictly a NoNo with them.
Chloe is on Cora’s lap and Leah is on Molly’s lap. Leah is looking at her Aunt Emamaly as she calls her. This was taken Christmas Eve which is Molly and Emily's birthday.
This is one of my favorite pictures so thought I would share it.

The Great Pretender

This is the great pretender. I have never seen a child so intent on imitating every thing she see's other's doing. If it resembles a telephone it is over her ear.
One day she was at her Grandparent L's house and they both had a section of  the newspaper spread out in front of them while they read the paper.
They happened to notice Chloe  sitting with a section of the newspaper stretched out in front of her while she read it. She saw her mother putting on deodorant so now she puts her arms up for the deodorant after a bath.
She came to visit me and I haven't seen her but a couple times and I thought she would  be shy. Not at all. She comes up to my steps like the ones in the picture. Those are the steps at her house, but mine are the same size. She didn't climb up the steps or wait for somebody to carry her up, she walked up those steps big as you please. No hand rails for her. How many can step up a stair way when the steps comes up to your knee's? She has grown a little since this picture, but not that much.
She brought me a singing Snoopy birthday card and danced to the music for me. She not only dances, she does the head bob along with it. She initiated a game of Peek-A-Boo with me.
She is never still, I mean like motionless. If they could only bottle some of that energy, we could all be rich.  She is one of my Great Granddaughters. Here are a couple more pictures.  I know everybody has cute kids, but I just had to brag a little.

Another Year Older

Another birthday came and went. This was number 83, so you see I am far over the hill.  In fact I’m almost to the bottom, and I haven’t picked up speed yet.
It was a great birthday with many cards and best wishes. My sister and hubby sent these beautiful flowers.
I was born in a farm house in Oklahoma on the 24th of August. Can you imagine how hot it must have been with no air conditioning. Many women had their babies at home in those days. If something happened to go wrong somebody would lose their life. The baby or the mother and sometimes both. We've come along way in 83 years.
It's been a long road with many forks, turns and bumps and I'm still hanging on.

The Gift

I just had a great pre birthday get together. Karen and Dennis (daughter and Turkey-in-law) and Katie came over from Tacoma to honor my birthday. I received some very nice gifts of which I am very grateful for, but Turkey-in-law always gets me something to show his true feelings for me. Usually it’s some version of a Witch or something just as insulting. This year he gave me a toilet seat !!!. He told Laura on the phone that he gave me a toilet seat for my birthday and she said, “Dad, that was a crappy thing to give Grandma for her birthday”. Happy Birthday to me……….
Anyway it was a great day and he also took us all out to dinner at the Black Angus. We ate heartily.
I thank my son-in-law very much for his thoughtfulness and the toilet seat and all the other things he bought for me.

How Old Are You

Age is a funny thing. It’s so important to everybody. It starts around three. Ask a three-year-old how old they are and they stick up three fingers and they are so proud of it and pleased that you asked.
When they reach five they like to add one half to it. I’m five and a half they tell you. When they reach ten they like to say they are ten going on eleven. The sixteenth birthday is a very special milestone and eighteen is even better.
Finally they reach the magic year of twenty-one.  You feel as though you have finally arrived, but why doesn’t anybody notice.  Life moves along rather rapidly and they reach thirty. That calls for a special birthday party. You're  almost over the hill. Then the memory starts to fade a bit and you stay thirty for a couple years. I mean some people do that, not me of course.
When you reach forty you hope nobody will notice. Fifty is almost
forgotten or at least you wish folks would just forget about it, but your family or friends will not let it lie.
One day you wake up and you’ve reached sixty. You really are over the hill. Nobody cares how old you are because most of your friends are about the same age, so it isn’t mentioned very often. Finally you reach eighty. You have another one of those special birthday parties. Now you begin to get a different attitude about age. You start acting like the three-year-old. You’re pretty pleased that God let you live this long. You start saying you’re eighty and a half.  I am eighty-two going on eighty-three. When and if I reach 90 I will be so thankful I’m over the hill and not under it. That is, if I remember what a hill is.
The moral of the story is, don’t take ‘age’ too seriously, it won’t last.

The only reason I get online is to see if there are any new postings or pictures of my Granddaughters.

Have you ever seen two happier faces?

Adoption

I have a new Great Granddaughter on the way. From China that is. Not sure of the delivery date, but should be in the next month or so. The adoption took a sudden turn. From Africa to China. Maybe it wasn't that sudden, but it turned. This little girl is ready made and made in China.
Black hair and big brown eyes. We cannot wait to spoil her rotten. She already has a girl cousin to play with. The cousin was in the family first, but China doll is about 5 months older. She also has little cousins on Jim's side of the family. Her Grandma runs a day care and will probably be taking care of her during the day.
The parents need to choose a name for her. She is still Little Miss Whats Her Name. Monday, the 27th is her first birthday. Adoption not totally finalized, so pictures cannot be shown. A rule is a rule.
Needless to say, Cora and Jim are very happy.

I guess he is in pretty good shape for such and old man. Look at that head of hair.
It still looks the same as when the other picture was taken.
Seriously, have a very Happy Birthday . You really deserve it and I love you.
