How to Handle your Handle

This one has multiple handles

It’s a conspiracy I tell you. Planned from day one, just so they can get wealthy at my expense. Let me tell you the plot. The handle fell off of the oven door. Can you believe they would make a stove with a handle that would just fall off and break up into pieces so it cannot be fixed. This stove is just a young thing, only 17 years old. It’s still a teenager and the handle just broke and fell off. I considered buying another somewhat older stove with a working handle, but all the old stoves I saw on Craig’s list were ugly and not self-cleaning. I will not buy a stove that doesn’t know how to clean itself. It’s not my nature to do something so stupid. So I decided to google for stove parts, thinking a handle couldn’t cost more than 15 dollars or so. I found my model number and serial number and went searching. Now fasten your seat belt, because this will throw you for a loop to find out how much it cost for a 2 foot, 3 inch piece of black plastic. They didn’t even include new screws, you can just use the old ones. It cost me $77.20 for a piece of plastic 2 inches wide and 2 feet, 3 inches long. Do you not think that is a little over the top? I am including shipping in that which is also outrageous.
I cannot complain about their service though. They hired FedEx to deliver it and that driver drove night and day through oil slicks, blinding hailstorms and tornadoes to get here. He arrived in about 5 business days and brought it right to my front door. I have a handle on my oven door now and a new bill with the credit card Company. My credit card co. now tells me how long it will take to pay off my balance if I make the minimum payment. It will take me seven years to pay off my debt at the credit card Company. Those stove people are going to be the only ones with any money left by the time this recession is over.
Sorry, that brought something else to mind. I told my insurance man that was here a few days ago that my bank has something new that will be added to online banking. We will be able to make an online deposit if we have a computer and scanner. I asked the Insurance man if he thought we would be able to make a cash deposit by scanning a 50 dollar bill a few times. He said, "Why not, the government’s been doing it forever" .

Another day, Another Doctor

What in world would I do with my time if I were young and normal? I just don’t have time to do anything, but go to doctors, labs, ER’s and other testing places.
I went to the lab for the blood draw and a few days later I went to my primary doctor (that means he is first in importance: chief). I have a doctor for every body part. Today I went to my bone doctor and next week I go to the hospital for a bone density test. In two weeks I go to the sleep doctor. I have already had my gland's X-rayed (mammogram). I saw a foot doctor just a few weeks ago and had X-ray’s of my feet. I’ve had both eyes operated on a couple times.
I sometimes wonder if it’s all necessary or is it because I have good insurance. Speaking of that, my secondary insurance just raised there rates another $24.00 a month. It will now be $210.00 a month. Ah Ha! I have a knight in shining armor. He is an insurance broker and he is coming here tomorrow at 10 am to sign me up with a plan that does everything, but escort me to the hospital and will be much less than $210.00.

Outside of all that everything is going smoothly. Well, sort of. Some time ago the handle fell off of my overhead microwave. I grasp the bottom of the door and pull it open that way because a new handle cost almost as much as a new Microwave. Then the handle fell off of my oven door. My son, Kenny glued it back together, but it only held it for a couple more months and now it fell off again. This time it broke into a million parts. I just don’t know why I am so hard on handles. I outlived my handles. That’s okay, you can’t take your handles with you anyway. That reminds me of a funny story I once heard.
It goes like this. An old man was lying on his death bed and the family and church folks were all standing over his bed and somebody said to him, "It’s okay, Walter, the angels are here waiting for you." The old man answered, "Well, dammit, let em wait".
Just thought I’d touch base. This is all for now.

Hurry, It's an emergency room !!

One day I moved a little too far south trying to put on my sock and messed up some nerves or muscles in my back. I felt it when it happened, and it just kept getting worse. After several days I finally had to go to the ER for the Four-Hour-Special they always have going on. Kenny (son) took me and we commented that it might not take so long because we didn’t see very many people there.

First you check in and they tell you to have a seat and it will just be a few minutes. We sat down and observed the other casualties that were coming in. A big burly man with a pink bandana wrapped around his head, and his lady companion. A couple that looked like they may have skidded down a road a few miles on their backsides.

A lady called me to come into her little room so she could torture me with her automated blood pressure machine. After that was over she said it would just be a minute. It was at least an hour before they came and took us to another room with a bed and all that stuff they need. She said I could sit in a chair if would rather. I would rather so I sat in a chair, and she said it will just be a few minutes.
Finally a Nurse (person) came in and wanted to know what medicine I am taking. I told her I didn’t have the list with me, but they must have it in their computer from the last time I was there. She agreed with that and left, but before she left she said, it would just be a few minutes.
Then a Nurse came in and fired up the computer and said she needed to register me. Asked a bunch of questions and it took a long time, but she finished and left and her parting words were, "It will only be a couple minutes".
Another 40 minutes or so passed when another Nurse came in and activated the computer and announced that she had to register me. Kenny and I both said in unison, "Somebody already did that". She said, " I have to do it again".
She started the questions and suddenly stopped and announced that somebody had already registered me. I thought it best not to comment. She asked what the person looked like, maybe she wants to send her flowers. When she left she said, "It will just be a few minutes".

Finally somebody came in and gave me a pill and a shot for the pain. At last a man came in and took me to X-ray. He parked me in the waiting area and said, "It will just be a couple minutes." After about 30 minutes I was wheeled down to the X-ray machine. After that was over I was wheeled back to the waiting room and told that it would just be a couple more minutes. I said, "You guys all say that, "Just a few minutes". He laughed and changed it and said, "He will be in about an hour and a half". And he was right.
Then we had to go to their Pharmacy because our town does not have one single Pharmacy open on Saturday evening. It was so busy they said it would be 30 to 40 minutes. The couple just ahead of us had waited 20 minutes or so and was told they were unable to fill their prescription for 24 hours, because the emergency room had given them a packet with a couple pain pills and they were not allowed to give them more that soon. They didn’t get the packet from emergency and I am not sure how the rest of their story turned out.

This whole episode took four hours. I returned home with a bottle of muscle relaxant drugs. This is two days later and my back pain is much better, so I think it was worth it. If you were very sick and had to wait like that it would be awful. I shudder to think how much Medicare and my private insurance will pay for that little incident. I am thankful I'm covered.

Tomato Time

I am finally rested up from the wedding. Not that I did anything. All I had to do was show up. When you’re my age, you need to rest before you show up.
Yesterday I bought one tomato plant and planted it in a big pot. Summer is just around the corner and I would love to have my own tomato crop. I bought a mature one. It’s already grown up and ready to produce big ripe tomatoes. Well maybe not quite, but it should not take all summer.
When something is wrong with my computer it bugs the life out of me. Kenny usually fixes it for me, but this time I fixed it myself. It was a really BIG DEAL, my Itunes went on a sit-down strike and would no longer work. I stewed and fretted over it for several days. Trying a few different things, I finally read somewhere that the best bet is to uninstall it and reinstall it. So I held my breath, and uninstalled it. Then I found the latest version and downloaded it. Miracles of miracles it worked like a charm. I know I sound like a first grader that got on the bus all alone for the first time.
While I am on the computer I put my Itunes on and listen to it and also sing along with it. Practice really does help. One day I found my voice. No kidding, I could never really sing before in my whole life. It only took me 81 years to find my voice. Would you call me a slow learner or what. Don’t be looking for me in a concert anytime soon. It will take me another 80 years to get that good.
My new great granddaughter already found her voice and she is not even three months old. You should hear her, she talks to you. It’s so cute she tries so hard to talk.
I need to go check up on my tomato crop. See you later.

More Wedding pictures

In front of the bride is Terry's brother, TJ (hope I got the name right) and beside the bride is Anthony, a very good friend. When Terry and Laura met the first time it was pre-planned by friends that knew the bride and also knew Terry that they would all go to a football game so Terry and Laura would meet each other. Anyway these two were in on the setup. I think Ashley, the bridesmaid sort of started the whole thing. If I have this wrong I am sure I will hear from Laura. It was a blind date or a set up. Anyway whatever it was it took off and the rest will be history.

A table full of relatives. at the 12 oclock position is Cora, Nancy, Mel, Emily, Ryan, Goldie, Wayne, Bob, Rita, the empty space is for Jim. He is taking the picture or dancing on somebodys table, you never know about Jim. (my family in Oklahoma need to know these things, so I hope the rest of you will not be too bored).

Coming back from the picture taking.
