Just Do It

Old age just appeared out of nowhere. I can't think, I can't remember what day it is or why I have a bank account. Today I couldn't sign into it. Just about drove me insane. It wouldn't accept my password. I finally had to call a bank employee. I'll bet he's still complaining about the dingy old woman he had to deal with today. Anyway, he blamed it on the recent update they had done. That was meant to make me feel better. It helped a little.

Earlier in the day I talked with a health coordinator my doctor had suggested.  I truly did enjoy talking with her. She impressed me with her knowledge of what makes us tick. It's water! I tell you it's plain old water. She said to get a large container with a straw and each morning fill it with ice and water and drink on it all morning. At lunch time fill it up again and drink it all. In the meantime stretch your arms and legs. Sit in a chair if your back hurts too much to walk. Lift your legs up and down and stretch your arms and legs. Do each thing ten times. She said to sit in my walker (with the seat) and use my legs to walk around the room. Guess what, my legs are not long enough.
When you awaken in the morning, go to the bath room, and when you get back in bed lift each leg ten times and wave your arms around and stretch every muscle in your body.
She said I will notice how much better I feel in two weeks. I guess it isn't too much to ask. She said drinking the water will improve my memory, help me lose weight. It will make the bowels work better. In other words she thinks I'm full of  it. Anyway water will make everything work better.
She also said when I use the bathroom and stand up, to keep squatting on the toilet for several times. Who would have ever thought of that one.
I'm going to do my very best. Wish me success.

Such is Life

2018 is in our past, I knew it wouldn't last. Resolutions are also in my past.
 Whatever will be will be.
I have TLC on and tonight is Fat night. If you ever think you're fat, turn that program on. You would have to take your bath in the Hot tub. No, thank you.
You never see an elderly person that is morbidly overweight. They just don't live that long.
I'm fat and need to lose weight. I keep hearing that the Cola drinks with the artificial sweetener is not a good thing. Maybe if I read the details on those reports I would understand the reason and that might convince me to give up the diet Pepsi.
Is this the year you are going to get more exercise?
If you're on the elderly side you probably have too many aches and pains to exercise. So that is out. Would it help if I rocked faster?
Why do kids get all the energy? I remember those days when I rode the bicycle a mile to the roller rink and spent two hours roller skating and rode the bicycle back home and five minutes later was complaining because there was nothing to do.

Gripes and Groans

I was born to ramble so ramble I will. I fell on my butt and broke my ankle. I moan and groan and it doesn't help at all. I can't take pain pills because they just add itch to the pain.
Aspirin does about as much good as anything. The boot makes it hurt even more.
It is so painful to find something to eat so I am not eating much at all. I'm sure not cooking anything. It's mostly TV dinners.

I was so sure I had lost a few pounds so I looked in the mirror at my butt, and it's still there, fat as ever. I sit on it all the time and I get no exercise except moving my lips, but with no one here I don't even move my lips. Trips to the bathroom is about all I do.
Kenny and Chris are my errand runners. I don't know what I would do without them. They sit and keep me company sometimes.

Jim, Cora and their girls came one day and brought me Tulips.

I have a TV with Spectrum channels. I like the TLC channel, but they  have lots of repeats. Or if you've seen one, you've seen them all, type of show.  How many 600 pound people do you care to see? Or Hoarders . My least favorite is 'Say Yes to the Dress'. Who cares about the stupid dress. Somehow I just can't get enthused about wedding dresses.
The ankle has been broken for 19 days so all I have to do it tolerate it for another three weeks or so.

My Aching Back

The medical world is the busiest place in the world. I called for an appointment with my doctor, but he was booked up so they asked if I would mind seeing the PA (whatever that stands for) Physician Assistant? Physician Apprentice ? I think it means they are just as good as a doctor but don't get paid as much.
There must be a need for more Physical Therapists because I have waited for nearly a week to get set up with an appointment after the doctor requested it. I finally get impatient and call them. At least I didn't get a menu of options, Heather answered the phone and was very helpful. She said a couple of their therapist are on vacation and I can't get in until August 1st. That's okay with me, at least now I know I am on the waiting list.
The doctor said my back went out because my front went out. Nah, he didn't really say that I figured it out myself. I was able to lose a bunch of weight. It was the only good thing that came out of having Shingles, but I don't recommend Shingles. It took away the aching back except when I use a vacuum cleaner. Why can't they make a riding vacuum cleaner? Anyway, I'm not seeing the PT about my back. I now have leg a problem with walking being the main problem. What else do you do with your legs?

True Story

Years ago when I first became elderly, and I’ve been elderly most of my life, I had a neighbor, and we were very close friends. We spent hours discussing our fattened condition that sometimes follows into elderly agehood.  We decided we could do something about it, and could start by taking up daily walks. We decided since we get up so early we would start at 4:30 AM. We had a perfect place to walk. It was the parking lot of the Seventh Day Adventist church nearby. It was just behind the local nursing home, and up a small embankment to get into their parking lot. It was still pitch dark, but we felt safe until the morning a car turned into the driveway and came speeding past us to the dumpster. We didn't think we could be seen because of the darkness, but we both felt sudden fear, and just knew it was the ax murderer. The conversation went like this.
Alice:  Look at that cheap skate, putting his garbage in the church dumpster.
Me:  Or is it a body?
She:  Oh Jesus Christ!!! Let’s get the hell outta here!
And so we did, as fast as our chubby little legs would carry us.
After that we went shopping to get our exercise.
