It's A Cat World

Living with a cat is a new experience for me. To start out with, she was a foster cat until her owner got well, but her owner passed away, and by then I had fallen in love with her. She is so much company, and I truly enjoy her, however she has a couple flaws, 0ne is that she has an extremely willful personality. Meaning it will be her way or no way at all. For one thing she insists on sleeping on my bed, which is fine with me, if she would find her own spot and stay in it. I don’t think it is ever going to happen. She has learned that if she gets next to the touch-tone bedside lamp it will automatically come on. Not a good thing at two in the morning. If I turn off the lamp she will wait about ten minutes and then start nibbling on my toes.
It works like a charm; I jump sky high and land on my feet. She takes off for dear life, and I slam the door shut and go back to bed. She waits until I am back to sleep and begins her night time serenade. Meow, meow, meow, meow. meow.  I ignore it and then she starts jumping against the door. I also ignore that until she gives up and goes to sleep. This morning the same routine started and I heard her jumping against the door, but fell asleep anyway until I felt her jump on the bed. I’m sure I looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I was instantly wide awake asking myself how she could possibly get through that closed door.  I got up and looked, she had managed to turn the knob and it came open. By now it’s 3:15 AM so I stayed up and she won again. Cat for sale!!! Oh not really. I still like her. Maybe ‘love’ is a little too strong

A Little Cat Tale

I’ve never been a cat person, I’m more of a dog person. I know very little about the cat, but I am learning that cats and dogs were not created equally, not even close. I have no pets at the present time so when someone asked me to foster a cat for two weeks, I had a moment of insanity, and said okay. That was the second biggest mistake I ever made in my life. Never mind the first one.
It has now been a month, the owner is still ill and unable to care for her. To start with the cat had always been called Kitty. I thought that was rather stupid so I named her Lassie.
It turns out Lassie is pretty big shoes for a cat to fill so I changed it to Sassy Lassie. Sassy fits her much better. She explores everything. If I leave a closet door open she is in there. This morning I heard a banging noise, and she had managed to shut the bathroom door, and couldn’t get out. She jumps or flies upon the washing machine and from there she makes another flying leap and gets on a window sill so she can look out the window. The window is near the ceiling.  I don’t know how she keeps from breaking her neck.
She plays crazy games, one is to chase an invisible mouse. She catches it, and it gets away so she runs and grabs it again. I bought some cat toys and they have disappeared. I was on my hands and knees yesterday looking under the beds and furniture for them. I can’t find them. She can get on the window sill in the living room and watch for things on the street and in the yard. She was raised with a dog, and has picked up some dog habits. She can make sounds that sound like little quiet dog barks. She does it when she sees a dog. She also barks at birds. She always wags her tail when she does the barking sound.
She thinks her God given assignment is to keep me awake. She attacks my toes in the middle of the night. Most of the time she sleeps on a corner of the bed, and I don’t even know she is there, but I get my toes chewed on and clawed at nightly. This applies to naps as well. The only remedy is to wear my shoes to bed. She gets on the window sill behind my chair and makes another flying leap to the top of my chair and it catches me off guard, and I jump 10 feet in the air. It’s either me or the cat. One of us has to go and I’m pretty sure it won’t be me.

A quiet moment.

My goal is to be a big mean dog.

Doing Office Time

Years ago when I was employed, I worked in an office. Part of the work in the olden days was to take the mail to the big blue mailbox on the street. It was my turn to take the mail to the box. On this day as I returned to our backdoor, a client had parked his pickup in our parking lot with five or six dogs in the back of it. We always called our client’s ‘consumers’ instead of customers or clients because they consumed so much of our time. When the dogs saw me they began to bark as loud as possible. It didn’t take long to stumble through the door.  Jean asked, “What did you do to those dogs?” I said, “I didn’t do anything to them, I just smiled at them.”  Jean started laughing, “You smile at dogs? Heh heh ha ha.” I answered,“I was running for my life, I wasn’t smiling, it was just an expression.” Jean laughed, “Heh hee heh ha ha, an expression! ” I had to defend myself so I said, “You have never had a pack of wild dogs nipping at your heels, have you?” “No, I would just smile at them” she said.
Anything to kill time at the office.

More Pictures

The weather is fine. No need complaining, it will not change anything. My sister in Oklahoma had to evacuate their home because of wildfires, but it didn't reach them. On top of that it was 113 degrees and had not rained for a long while.
I have a couple new pictures of a Great Granddaughter. I think they are cute.

This is a view from her back porch the night of the fire.

This is Chloe pretending she is Mommy

They rescued this little stray kitten. It is no longer a stray and growing by leaps and bounds.

I think Kitty is planning his escape.

The Rescue

This is one of my favorite pictures. My brother, Gene and his dog.

They had to rescue the abandoned calf. He couldn't have done it without his faithful assistant.

What's So Bad About Being A Dog?

What's so bad about a dog's life.

Life just gets more exciting every day. Yesterday I read the paper, worked the crossword puzzle and took a nap. Today I actually worked the crossword first, read the paper, skipped the nap and ordered something online from Walmart. I don’t know if my heart can take much more of this excitement.
This afternoon I took a trip down memory lane, and that was somewhat tiring so I took a nap.
I am trying to read a book that I can’t really get into so I got online to see if I could find something more to my liking. I got sidetracked with this and when I get through I will go find the book I want.
This morning there was a slight bit of snow covering everything. It has already disappeared. Mother Nature can’t seem to figure out that it’s Spring.

Till Next Time.

The Way it is

It’s a quiet weekend on the home front. I am dog sitting or in this case the dog is sitting me. This dog is big enough to take care of herself, so we are just keeping each other company. Now and then the dog comes over and lays her paw on my leg so I guess you could say we have been holding paws all weekend.
She is quiet and not anxious about anything. I was afraid she would be pacing the floor. My dog died about four years ago and sometimes I think about getting another one, but haven’t been too serious about it yet. My son said,” You don’t need to get another dog, you can borrow ours.”
Somehow that just isn’t the same as having your own dog. That would be like borrowing somebody’s kid for a day or two. Who does that?
It’s been cold as Alaska, but no snow and I am very pleased about that.

I tried to take a picture of the dog, but it was impossible to get a good one. My camera is slow and I'm even slower. S
he would always move before I could snap it. In this one, she not only moved, she laid down and went to sleep.
Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Day. Some holidays we light firecrackers, or dye and hunt Easter eggs or wear green, or eat big meals, or buy each other gifts or send valentines. We need to come up with something fun to do for his day. I guess there will be parades, but that isn’t much fun.
Till Next Time.

Gabby

This is Gabby

Kenny (My son) was over here the other day with his dog. The dog can talk and speaks English. She had been outside and when she came back in she sat in front of Kenny and said “Waawaa”.
Kenny says, “Oh she wants some water”. As though she was being a pain in the behind. I sat there with my jaw on the floor. Who has a dog that can say water when they want a drink?
However she doesn’t speak very clearly in most cases.  She can’t even pronounce water very well. I think she needs speech therapy.

Cows and Guns

For inexpensive shock treatments just read the daily newspaper. A man was herding cows with his van. Three cows were injured and had to be euthanized. The van became high-centered on top of a cow. He pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty.

In an unrelated case teens were arrested after a shooting. One teen was 13 and I think he fled on his tricycle. They were shooting at a man and missed. In another earlier shooting suspected gang members shot out the window in a car. Flying glass injured somebody. Everyone should wear a bulletproof vest and cows need to carry guns.

On that gloomy note I will sign off and wish you a bullet safe day. Just be thankful you’re not a cow.

Well, I never!

I cannot believe it !!!! The local news just announced that the Animal Right's group are going to make an effort to encourage folks to have their dogs and cats spade and neutered.  This is what they are going to do. On the corner of 3rd and Yakima Ave they will have two giant condoms marching around on that corner.
What in the Sam hill do condoms have to do with dogs and cats over breeding.
How are you going to explain that scene to your little kid?  This is ridiculous, preposterous, absurd, ludicrous, disgusting and stupid. What do you think?

Today just got a little more boring. My cable went out in the living room and kitchen so I have no TV in those rooms, but the bedroom TV works fine. I don’t know why those TV’s are not getting a signal, but this one in the bedroom is.
The cable to the house goes through the neighbor’s cedar tree and the wind has been whipping that tree around so I am guessing it has something to do with the lack of a signal. I am getting tired of sitting in the bedroom. The cable people will not be here until tomorrow afternoon. I guess I could read instead of watching TV.

What a concept !
