To Bleed or Not To Bleed

Life goes on but we may not. Gloom and doom is upon us.
To start with I have a home companion by the name of Sassy LeMassy. If she see's something move she attacks it. She attacked my hand and snagged a hole in my hand between my thumb and finger that left a hole that began to bleed profusely.
It began to pour out of me. I thought I had enough pressure on it, but it kept bleeding.  No one wants to go outside and especially not to a hospital.

After dealing with it all afternoon with no solution. No matter what I did nothing would stop the bleeding. I even missed Dr. Phil.

I finally put a cotton ball on it because I have no gauze, and glued it down with a couple bandaids and then a plastic glove to hold everything in place and held my hand in the air like I wanted to ask a question. Shelly, Chris's daughter, told me to run cold water over it and wrap it up as thight as I can and hold my arm higher than my heart. That isn't easy to do, try it sometime. This was hours ago and no blood has soaked through the cotton but I am going to leave it on overnight before I unleash it.
I take a few aspirins for pain and it can thin your blood so I need to find a different pain killer or a different companion.

A Cat Catastrophe

This is SassyLeMassy the boss.
Sassy stopped eating all day yesterday and this morning and was in my face meowing her head off and even during the night she was pouncing on me and meowing.
I decided she would need to see a Vet and I'm not rolling in money so it was a problem.
What is wrong with her and what does she want I kept asking myself. Finally, I decided to put fresh food in her bowl. I thought it would help and that is when the answer came. I have very impaired vision but when I picked up the dish it was covered with ants I had the answer to the problem. They were all over the area and if there is anything I hate much more than an ant in the house I don't know what it is. Thank goodness I still had a can of ant spray. They are now history and Sassy is no longer hungry and the peace and quiet is heavenly.
Now, for the rest of the story. The next time I went in the kitchen the ants had returned. More than ever of them.
I remember that my neighbor, Polly, is always spraying ant hills in the yard so I called her. She said she would be right over and she was with her can of Raid ant repellant. She sprayed the area and said that will be the end of the ants. She was right. I do believe they are gone.

Next To Nothing

It's been a normal Sunday thus far. The motorcycle kids must be taking a break. I haven't heard a motorcycle for at least ten minutes.
For some unknown reason, they just like to drive up and down the street, up and down the street, up and down the street, up and down the street. They live at the end of the block and must have at least half a dozen of the noisy things in their yard. They don't bother me at all I just question why do they enjoy it so much. Maybe I should buy one and join them. My life is kind of mundane these days. I don't have a single appointment for the rest of this month.
I have a cat named Sassy and she likes Bo Pitney, the young country music singer. He is my preferred singer so I listen to all his songs on YouTube. When I turn him on (I don't turn him on, I just turn his music on) Sassy comes running and sits on the arm of my chair and listens with me. I have the laptop on my lap or she would be on my lap.
Sassy thinks she is my seeing-eye cat. When I get out of my chair which I sit in non-stop, she gets up and goes to the doorway to the kitchen and when I get to the door she escorts me to the bathroom. Get a cat and you'll never pee alone again.

Why Don't We Wait and See

I had to wait so long for help with the shoulder pain it healed on its own. Why do we have doctor's and insurance? What a waste of time and money, but they rule the roost. Now I have developed a horrifying itch on my shins mainly and around my waist. I thought the Shingles had returned, but not the case. The doctor prescribed itching medicine, but the insurance won't approve it until they get more info from the doctor. This happened on a Friday so the game plan is I will need to wait until Monday or Tuesday, I am in grrr mode.
I wanted to get a Shingles injection to prevent getting it, but Safeway is out of the medicine so I will need to wait for them to get more. Maybe I could go drug shopping and find another pharmacy, but I how do I know who has it and who doesn't, but the sun is shinning and I am in a much better mood. Except for a cat that thinks my lap was made for her to sit on. I'm going to put that cat on the market one of these days.
The wind is blowing and I can live with that. In fact I happen to love wind if I can stay inside and listen to it.

I once was able to go for walks and take pictures.

I miss Randal Park

Forty Winks Minus Thirtynine

I didn't sleep a wink last night and this feline will not let it happen today either. I am ready to send her to the moon as Ralph Kramden always said to Alice.
You are an old timer if you remember that couple.
I tried the sheep counting, the bed, the chair, the midnight snack, the boring TV show, texting someone in Tennessee, crocheting a few double crochets.
Reading, working a crossword puzzle, and watching some YouTube music.
I positively dread tonight.

And to all a Goodnight !

Pets

This is Minnie, a wirehaired dachshund, she grew old and had to die. The only thing she seemed to be afraid of was a broom. She would hide out under the bed when the broom came out. I truly believe she had been abused with a broom before I came into her life. She required a lot of grooming. She was so short her belly dragged through the grass. I was constantly trying to keep her clean. When winter came and the snow was two feet deep in the back yard I would need to scoop out an area for her potty spot.

Fall is Falling

Fall has fallen again. Nothing much to look forward to unless you enjoy snow falling and filling up the driveway and dark falls a little too soon as well.  I live in the midst of three schools so I watch the kids marching down the sidewalk  to school, but when they go home in midafternoon they seem to be  much more hurried. They run and laugh with their friends. When I moved here about 24 years ago I was told I might regret living where so many kids might be a nuisance. Kids have never bothered me except one time. One plucked my one daffodil that was in bloom. I didn't actually see who took it and I even doubt Judge Judy would rule in my favor, but I suspect one of those adolescents helped themselves to it.  It's okay as long as they don't mess with my money tree.
Most  people look forward to weekends, but I look forward to Mondays. There is not as much traffic and stores are not as busy either.
A cat adopted me and we don't always see eye to eye. For some reason, she seems to think she is the boss.

A Cat Tale

My Name is Sassy LeMassy

I volunteered to foster a cat while her owner is recuperating from an illness.
The person passed away from her illness and I inherited a cat which I named Sassy LeMassy. I know very little about cats, but I am learning. She is a neat one, constantly grooming herself. She seems to be very happy except when I want to take a nap or at 4 AM. She lets me know that she is not going to accept that kind of behavior by clawing at my toes. She lets me do almost everything else as long as I stay awake while I’m doing it. If she doesn’t knock it off, she is going to have to move on. I now have a peeping Tom. A big gray cat sits on my outside window sill and stares at her.
It is now many months later and I have learned a lot about cats or maybe I should say 'this one'.
If I reject her offer to sit on my lap she thinks she is punishing me by taking a day-long nap. Little does she know I love it. Now I can knit in peace or browse the internet or read or whatever I want.
She can hear a car drive in the driveway and heads for her safe place under a bed. Sometimes late in the evening she makes a mad dash for a bedroom and it scares the bejibbers out of me. When coming to see me after dark call first because I do not open my door after dark because it might be the boogie-man.
When it's her dinner hour she never lets me forget it. I recognize my dinner hour as well. When I'm opening the can of food for her she winds herself around my legs. She never does it otherwise and I wish she would stop it.
They may be very short, but they know exactly what you're doing. You can't sneak too many things past a cat.
I have an attached garage with a door to the utility room. When I first got her
I accidentally closed the door to the garage not knowing she was out there. She must have been out there all of ten minutes before I realized it. She has not offered to go in the garage again from that day to this. What was ten minutes to me must have been ten days to her.
I have a fenced back yard and I let her go out there because she loves it. I know cats can climb over a fence or even a house if they want to, but she is pretty content with staying in the yard. One day recently she decided to go exploring and I thought I had lost her forever. She was gone for an hour and I was in tears and very upset with myself. Finally, she came strolling in the back door as though it was just another day at the park.

It's A Cat World

Living with a cat is a new experience for me. To start out with, she was a foster cat until her owner got well, but her owner passed away, and by then I had fallen in love with her. She is so much company, and I truly enjoy her, however she has a couple flaws, 0ne is that she has an extremely willful personality. Meaning it will be her way or no way at all. For one thing she insists on sleeping on my bed, which is fine with me, if she would find her own spot and stay in it. I don’t think it is ever going to happen. She has learned that if she gets next to the touch-tone bedside lamp it will automatically come on. Not a good thing at two in the morning. If I turn off the lamp she will wait about ten minutes and then start nibbling on my toes.
It works like a charm; I jump sky high and land on my feet. She takes off for dear life, and I slam the door shut and go back to bed. She waits until I am back to sleep and begins her night time serenade. Meow, meow, meow, meow. meow.  I ignore it and then she starts jumping against the door. I also ignore that until she gives up and goes to sleep. This morning the same routine started and I heard her jumping against the door, but fell asleep anyway until I felt her jump on the bed. I’m sure I looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I was instantly wide awake asking myself how she could possibly get through that closed door.  I got up and looked, she had managed to turn the knob and it came open. By now it’s 3:15 AM so I stayed up and she won again. Cat for sale!!! Oh not really. I still like her. Maybe ‘love’ is a little too strong

The Fly Hunter

Thank God for flies or I would have no fun at all.

A very rude fly invited itself into my house, and Sassy the cat is honing her hunting skills. She has spent two days searching for, and making flying leaps in the air swatting at the elusive fly. At one point she had it treed on the inside of a lamp, and almost knocked the lamp over trying to smack it. It got away once again. Now the fly is sitting on the back of a chair and she is having a stare down with it while creeping closer and closer. Oops! missed again. I do swear the fly is teasing her. It comes flying overhead like a Stealth bomber, and swoops down within inches, she grabs for it and it zooms off. I thought about swatting the fly myself, but this is far too entertaining. Now she is on the back of the couch and the fly must be behind the couch and she can’t reach it, but if looks can kill, it’ll be dead in a few minutes. She is staring it down again.

Whoever thought my life would be reduced to this. Some folks take trips and go on cruises or road trips to vacation spots. I stay home and watch my cat chase a fly.

Look how cute I am!

A Little Cat Tale

I’ve never been a cat person, I’m more of a dog person. I know very little about the cat, but I am learning that cats and dogs were not created equally, not even close. I have no pets at the present time so when someone asked me to foster a cat for two weeks, I had a moment of insanity, and said okay. That was the second biggest mistake I ever made in my life. Never mind the first one.
It has now been a month, the owner is still ill and unable to care for her. To start with the cat had always been called Kitty. I thought that was rather stupid so I named her Lassie.
It turns out Lassie is pretty big shoes for a cat to fill so I changed it to Sassy Lassie. Sassy fits her much better. She explores everything. If I leave a closet door open she is in there. This morning I heard a banging noise, and she had managed to shut the bathroom door, and couldn’t get out. She jumps or flies upon the washing machine and from there she makes another flying leap and gets on a window sill so she can look out the window. The window is near the ceiling.  I don’t know how she keeps from breaking her neck.
She plays crazy games, one is to chase an invisible mouse. She catches it, and it gets away so she runs and grabs it again. I bought some cat toys and they have disappeared. I was on my hands and knees yesterday looking under the beds and furniture for them. I can’t find them. She can get on the window sill in the living room and watch for things on the street and in the yard. She was raised with a dog, and has picked up some dog habits. She can make sounds that sound like little quiet dog barks. She does it when she sees a dog. She also barks at birds. She always wags her tail when she does the barking sound.
She thinks her God given assignment is to keep me awake. She attacks my toes in the middle of the night. Most of the time she sleeps on a corner of the bed, and I don’t even know she is there, but I get my toes chewed on and clawed at nightly. This applies to naps as well. The only remedy is to wear my shoes to bed. She gets on the window sill behind my chair and makes another flying leap to the top of my chair and it catches me off guard, and I jump 10 feet in the air. It’s either me or the cat. One of us has to go and I’m pretty sure it won’t be me.
Sassy Lassie

A quiet moment.

What can I get into now look.

My goal is to be a big mean dog.
