A Cat Tale

Another true cat tale. Several years ago I was visiting my sister, Carol at her home in Oklahoma. Everytime I got on her computer, her cat would get on top of the computer and just stare at me like I was a big fat mouse and he was ready for lunch. I think his name is Snooky or something like that. I renamed him Puter Tat. He can sure keep you laughing. He is still with them and probably waiting for the big fat mouse to show up again.

Got Coffee

I was going to post something, but it requires a picture and the Blogger insert Picture feature seems to be out of order or I'm not holding my mouth right when I click on it. I can't get it to work. So I will tell you about my day. I had coffee with my old Senior buddies and I am not talking about high school Seniors either. A group of us meet every other week at a Coffee house, that is if you can call three people a group. We are all well over the hill as the saying goes, but as my mother used to say, "I'm going to live to be a hundred or die trying". I thought that was so funny and I quote her every time I think about it. Mom almost made it, she only had six years left to go. Anyway we have a good time discussing everything and trying to solve the world problems. We can no longer gossip about anybody because we can't remember anybody's name. We still try, but all we can recall is the event, not the persons name. That takes the fun out of it.

Hey, that's about it. What were you expecting?

Toto the TV Cat

This is a picture of Beth's(my niece) cat. His name is Toto the TV cat.
He likes to watch TV. He will sit in front of the TV and watch an entire video. So Beth bought him a video of birds doing whatever birds do and he loves it. He watches it over and over. As you can see, he has a nice front row seat. How could anybody not love animals?

Beautiful Wedding

This is my Granddaughter, Emily and Ryan's marriage May 26, 2007. It was a beautiful wedding with natural flowers in bloom and a beautiful river in the background. When the minister began the ceremony he began to sniffle and cry and kept wiping his eyes with a handkerchief and I was in awe as to how emotional he was about the event, but I couldn't understand why because he had just met the couple. The Judge, they had planned to perform the ceremony, didn't show up. Can you imagine the Judge being a "no show". Not even a phone call to let them know. The wedding party was waiting in the Limo and the air conditioner stopped working. The guests were waiting on the little chairs in the sunshine and it was getting hotter by the minute. Lots of little innuendo's flying around as to what might have happened. Did the bride back out at the last minute or did the groom back out at the last minute. What could have possibly happened ! The Judge was just a rude jerk I guess. The minister was overcome with allergies to the flowers and not with emotion.

Technology

This modern technology is having a run-away. Your grand kids run around with things plugged into their ears. They can't hear a word you're saying because they are listening to their music.

You have nine hundred TV stations to watch. You can get on line and chat with somebody that lives on the other side of the world. I guess the next thing will be to explore and visit other planets. I mean regular folks will be able to do it. Probably not until they find a Mall on one of them. When that happens the shoppers will find a way. It makes life interesting. Imagine if we were still trying to invent the wheel. We used to churn butter by putting the cream in a fruit jar and shaking the daylights out of it until it turned into butter. How exciting would that be?

It's a Bundle Deal

Some days I just seem to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. I don't like to waste days like that so today I called the Internet provider and complained about the lousy speed of their server. I went from super high speed with a cable company because I hated their phone service. You know everything is a bundle these days. You can't have one without the other.
It was a phone service that was constantly off line and I can't wait for the phone to start working if my house catches on fire or somebody is breaking in. So I gave up my super high speed because it was a package deal. If you take just one of the services it cost three times as much. So now I have a TV service that I love and the phone is never out of order, but the Internet speed stinks. It's almost as slow as I am and I pay $21.99 a month because it's a package deal and if I drop just that they will charge me $20.00 more a month for the other two services.
After I gripped and moaned and belly ached at them for an hour I decided to give them a rest and call the Cable company again. I live in Washington and was talking to a man in Missouri. At least he wasn't in India. I told him that I had received in the mail from his company that they were offering a bundle deal for $69.99 month. It seems that it only includes basic TV. Just a few local channels was about all that one had. He explained all the bundle deals they have and I asked as many questions as I could think of. I think he may have even missed his break. I asked him if they had improved the phone service. I told him what I think of bundle deals and that I think they should be outlawed and that I had written a letter to the FTC about it. He wasn't the slightest bit impressed. You can't impress a Missourian.
The bottom line is that their service would have cost even more than what I am paying now. It's a bundle deal you can't have one without the other.. Sounds like some good lyrics for a song.

I have beenTagged

I think this might be for the birds, but I'll give it a try since I have nothing better to do. Just kidding, I love a challenge.

I have been tagged by Cora at Littlemisswhatshername

Seven Random things about me.

  • My mother-in-law taught me how to crochet, but I taught myself how to knit.

  • I hate it when people leave a little dab of food on their plate, it just makes cleaning up the dishes that much messier. Forget good manners if that is the reason for it.

  • I always loved to draw as a child, but was told that you have to be born with a talent for it so I never tried very hard. That was a lie. I might have been an artist by now if I had kept on trying.

  • I hate people that leave a grocery cart in the next persons way. Lazy Blankety blanks.

  • I am getting a little tired of "Have a nice day".

  • I have worn the same snow boots for 30 years. This year I bought new ones.

  • Speaking of that, I hate it when the snow plow goes by and leaves a four foot mountain of snow at the end of my driveway. I wonder how many people love it.

  • I voted for Abraham Lincoln. I would have and I still would if he were running.

Now I am suppose to tag 7 people. I don't know anybody with a blog except folks that have already been tagged.

Here is one that I like. She is hilarious and should be writing a book.

I don't know her name, but she is a musical fruitcake or something like that.

Eye Glasses

Red Riding Hood is the one that needed the glasses.
If any of my grand kids mistakes the big bad wolf for me I
will take them to the eye doctor immediately.

I had my annual check with the eye doctor the other day. Every year for the past five years they tell me that the cataracts will probably need to be removed the next year. This goes on and on and it's just a routine thing. Go in so they can tell me it will be another year. This year they said the cataracts are ready to come off. At last !! I was pretty sure this would be the year because my vision is not what it used to be. They will take the one off of the left eye and in two weeks the other one will come off. I will be happy to get that over with. I guess there is nothing to it or so I'm told.
This is all that is new in my world.

Joy's of Blogging

I guess I can blame this Fairy. I have nobody else to blame except me and I would never do that, but my blog is totally messed up. I was just trying to put my old post's in folders and eliminate a mile long list. I followed instructions. I can't help it if they don't know how to write instructions so I can understand them. I spent an hour or more screwing it up so I guess I will just leave it this way until my eyes become undilated. My eyes were dilated this morning and they are still not normal. Maybe that is why I screwed up so badly.

Head Scratcher

I don't know if anybody noticed this, but I am a copy cat. If Jim and Cora do something different on their blog I find myself doing the same thing. Well, dang! that's cool. I wonder how they did that and so I go digging. They put special links on their pages so I did that too. They put counters on so I need a counter too. They put Followers on so now I have followers. Only two, but it's a start. This is the neatest one of all the called a Feedjit so you can tell where these followers and others are coming from. You can click on options at the bottom of the it and it shows all the places that have looked at it. People all over the world, that is amazing. That is the part that makes me scratch my head.

Things that go Bump in the Night

I've just been sitting here minding my own business when I heard a bang, clang clang noise coming from the the kitchen. It sort of sounded like somebody was out there messing around. I can see most of the kitchen from where I am sitting so I knew nobody was in the kitchen. Something must have fallen from the wall or jumped off the table. Curosity finally got the best of me so I went out there and spent a lot of time looking at the wall and the floor and nothing was amiss, however I did pick up a little gadget from the floor that belonged in the leg of the chair. It's been lying on the window ledge since President Carter was elected because some day I'm going to put it back in the leg of the chair where it belongs, but it does require some skill that I'm not sure I have. I laid it back on the window ledge and came back to my laptop. It was not two minutes until the same noise happened again. I am convinced the invisable little demons are messing with me. I laid it back on the window ledge again and I watched it like a cat watches it's prey. I kept watching and watching and watching and finally it happened again. It hit the leg of the chair and that caused the extra clang clang sound. You must be in so much suspence by now. Do you want to tune in next week for the rest of the story? I suppose not so this is what happened. I have the window open because of this stupid Indian summer we are having and I guess it's going to last till the cows come home. I have a venetian blind on the window and the wind blew the blind against the gadget pushing it off the ledge. It's enough to make your hair turn white.

Cora the Kid

I've just been looking at some old pictures. The top picture is Cora posing in her Aunt Karen's shirt and sunglasses. The next one is her and her Grandpa and Buffie the dog. It was many many moons ago.

Laptop

Life is great here in the fast lane. Laptop computer is like going from a wall phone to a desktop phone, or going from a desktop phone to a portable phone or a hands free phone. It's like going from an icebox to a refrigerator. It's like going from a horse carriage to a model T Ford. It's like going from from a two mile walk to school to a school bus. It's like going from a tub and scrub board to an electrical washing machine. It's like going from an out house to an in house. I have seen all those changes in my lifetime. All except the automobile. I believe it got here before I did.
It is also the greatest birthday gift I have ever received. Thanks everybody.

The Laptop

This is just to let everybody know that I got my laptop birthday present today and I am up and running. I can get used to this !!! Love it, love it, love it. Thanks very mucha. It's going to take some practice to get adjusted to this keyboard. It took one month and two days for it to actually materialize. It was on order and back-order and cancelled order by the store and reordered from a different store. It's finally here.

The New Me

This is just the ticket! Exactly what I need. I could probably add my C-PAP and my artificial plastic nostrils to it. It would keep my mouth shut, much to the delight of my big mouthed SIL. (see comment on previous post)
I am not allowed to breath with my mouth open while sleeping with the C-PAP. I guess I need to write to this Rod Miller guy and find out if there would be room for my gargage door opener in case I want to leave in a hurry. No need for a purse. I think I like this concept.

The Wait Project

Back in March it was determined that I have Sleep Apnea. I have spent two nights in the sleep clinic and many appointments with the Doctor. Finally after 7 months I have been fitted with a C-PAP. It is not too bad. It’s very quiet and that surprised me. Unless I open my mouth while sleeping, in that case I start dreaming about the dam at Rimrock Lake breaking and I am camping in a tent just below it. You can hear big gushes of water lashing at the tent and you know you’re going to drown and be swept away. On and on goes the big gushing water sounds until it gets so frightful you wake up. It’s so real that you immediately think there is a horrible flood outside and jerk the mask off to look out the window and check it out. Oh, it was just the C-PAP. The water gushing sound was happening because I opened my mouth. Do not open mouth while sleeping or you will have to wear a chinstrap to hold it shut. That warning came drifting back to me. What if the mouth just flies open on it’s own? I guess it means a chinstrap, but I’m going to give it a little more time. I do sleep better and can sleep about 5 hours before I wake up. My test showed that I was waking up 26 times an hour and my oxygen level was 77. Anything would be an improvement over that I guess.
