More Corn from Cornville

Will wonders ever cease? I doubt it. I ordered some BBQ sauce through Amazon and they send me an empty envelop. I wonder why. I just this minute answered my phone and a voice said 'You have been kicked from this conference". I wonder why.

I found my blue yarn that has been missing for weeks. It was right under my nose all this time and I couldn't find it. I wonder why.

I can fight sleep all evening and when I finally go to bed my brain flies open and I remember every terrible thing that ever happened to me. I wonder why.

Amazon apologized and refunded my money. I had enough in the almost empty bottle to work. Chris had given me some BBQ meat that she had made and it was so good I just had to make some more. I had ordered the BBQ sauce and Amazon posted this morning that it had been delivered so I put the beef in the frying pan and called Polly to ask if she would get my mail for me. She always does but I needed it a little sooner. She brought it to me along with the empty envelop and now the meat is ready for the sauce and no sauce. About this time Kenny dropped in and I told him about the dilemma, I had the old bottle of sauce so he put a few drops of water in it and shook the bottle and out comes just enough sauce to flavor the meat and it was excellent. He saved the day! It may not sound like a big deal to you but it was to me. A really big deal to have something good to eat. If he had not been here I wouldn't have thought if it. Sometimes people show up at just the right time. I wonder why.

Is it just a coincidence or do we have guardian angels that sometime gets off their butt and helps us. Sorry, guardian angel, I just had to say it.

Crazy World

We used to elect a president and that was the end of it until the next election. That was in our past and things change. Now we make a big deal about it until the next shocking event happens. It's the media that is the problem. Now everyone has an opinion and can post it so it goes on and on. In the past no one knew what others were thinking so they didn't get so riled up about it.

We turn on TV and it's about all you can see or get online.

I'm hungry and it's too late in the day to eat. I sleep better if I don't eat late in the day.

I have dentures that still don't fit right. I decided I may as well get adjusted to them. They can't seem to get them adjusted to me.

As I said before I lost a hearing aid and it's still missing. Now my other hearing aid has stopped working so I have to go back to that place and let them fix it.

What fun is there in growing to a ripe old age? I haven't found much fun yet.

At least in this modern day I can get on my blog and gripe about it. It makes me feel good to know that those that read this know I'm not happy.

I like to crochet so I made this gadget to keep the junk in. My intentions were to keep the end table from being so cluttered. Well, guess what, it's just as cluttered as ever.

History

I am so busy doing nothing. Sunday's Yakima Herald-Republic newspaper had the greatest article about a lady by the name of Edith Ryan telling about her life. She is now 99 years old. Her story is so similar to mine I felt that I was reading my own life history. We grew up in the same era. Her mother was born in a sod hut on the Nebraska prairie. My grandparents lived in a cave they dug out on the bank of some Oklahoma sod while they built their home. I don't know who all was involved in building the house but they got it built in time for my Grandma to give birth to her last son, my father. I think they had six or seven sons and one daughter. The daughter was the oldest so she must have spent most of her childhood helping with her siblings.

My grandfather participated in the Oklahoma Land Rush and ended up with some land. I'm not sure what year it was but I know my Dad was born there. The lady in the story was born in the Yakima area, but she experienced the great depression, wars, cultural shifts, changing gender roles. Well, I guess everyone has if you're old enough no matter where you live.

It feels like another Sunday to me. Sunday's last forever.

Kenny and Chris came over and brought me some Blue Berry Muffins(Wow! delicious) among other things.

Well, back to my knitting. I ordered a new 36 inch circular knitting needle as I thought I would knit a lap robe for a change instead of crocheting. Forget that noise! Back to crocheting for me. I used to knit everything but my hands are slightly trembly so I accidently jerk out 3 or 4 stitches. Putting those stitches back on the needle just right takes some sturdy hands. This is a picture of the Oklahoma land rush and it says 1892. Some of the family's would follow in their covered wagons.

A Good Day

I believe I finally came out from under a black cloud. Everything turned out perfectly today. My laptop wasn't working at all because I needed a new power cord. It came today just as they said and now my laptop is lapping it up and working better than ever.

My son, Mel, put a new faucet on my bathroom sink so no more turning it off just right so it wouldn't leak and drip and a new toilet seat. He replaced the drain thingie under the utility tub so I can use it again. Well, not exactly Christmas but close to it.

Powerless until tomorrow.

If the virus doesn't get us the boredom will. I can handle it okay if the sun is shinning but if it's a cloudy dreary day I try to sleep it away. I watch a lot of TV and that gets a little mundane after awhile. The commercials are more fun than the programs. I like the little green lizard.

Hoarders is on but that gets a little too sickening after awhile. Most of them have a lot more money than I do.

My computer won't stay powered up so I need to end this before it shuts me down. I  get it tomorrow. Yeaaaa

Twice Upon A Time

I expect the Protesters will attempt to storm the Capitol again. They were caught with their pants down the first time. I don't expect that to happen again. It's a wait and see game.

Thank God for Facebook, at least we can see what the rest of the family are doing unless of course they are anti Facebook. There are more and more anti Face bookies.

At least we have Television and the Internet to keep us on top of the action.

When I was a kid we lived on a farm out in the country and didn't know about the bombing of Pearl Harbor until a neighbor a couple miles away rode over on his pony to let us know.

Radios were scarce and few hardly knew about them. There were no airplanes in the sky. All you saw in the sky were birds. Well. airplanes were a fact but not seen very often. We soon knew how real they were when they bombed Pearl Harbor.

Another thing I remember about my childhood was the wild Sunflowers that grew everywhere along the roads. I think we thought of them as weeds. They are beautiful! Irises is another flower that grew everywhere.

Just killing time!

Toe Nails

Toe nail day here. We all have them, they come with the foot. If you ignore them long enough they start gnawing on your toe. Well, it happened to me, I cannot see well enough to trim them myself so I ignore them as long as I can. Today was the toenail day in my life. They were screaming at me and even wake me up in the night.

Chris took me to the Toenail Place of Business and they they got out the tools. They did the whole nine yards and I held my breath and cringed and tried to act brave. I finally got that taken care of and from there we went to Arby's and ordered French Dip sandwiches and came home to eat them.

Won't it be nice when we can go sit in a restaurant again.  I needed Pepsi because it's my drug of choice, and Fred Meyers had it on sale and since neither one of us can remember anything for five minutes we forgot to buy the Pepsi so she was going back to get the Pepsi and I asked if I could go along for the ride. That is how much I enjoy getting out of my four walls and breathing the outside air.

Everyone had their mask on and if they didn't they were digging in their pockets for it.

I make cartoons as a pass time.

There's no money in it.

Days of the Past

Many moons ago when I was a preteen we lived in an old farm-house. You woke up in the morning to the sound of roosters crowing. No one was in much of a hurry. Not much to look forward to. No newspaper until the mailman (the carrier was always a man) delivered it to your mailbox on the corner of our property.  There was an upstairs in our house that had never been wallpapered so we pasted old newspapers to the wall. I think we thought it would block some of the cold air out. As I recall it didn't serve the purpose very well because I always woke up shivering and didn't waste any time getting downstairs so I could hover over the top of that old potbellied stove and try to warm up. Grandpa lived with us and his duty was to take care of the stove. He did a mighty fine job of it, he would bring in wood and coal. Us kids were required to bring in wood also, we'd stack it in our arms and carry it in.

I remember reading the newspaper from bed or trying to. I remember Hitler's picture was on the ceiling and who was Hess? His picture was there too.

Mom had to do the laundry from an old galvanised washtub and a washboard and it was hung on a clothesline. I think there were about six of us at that time.

One day they bought a Washer and it was not electric it had a motor such as a lawnmower and a cord to pull to start the motor. It danced all over the screened-in back porch. It had a hand-operated wringer attached to it. Mom thought she had died and gone to heaven. Many years later as life went on she had all the modern appliances but always said that Washer was the one that brought her the most happiness.

I said all that to say this, stop bellyaching about the Pandemic, It's just a little bump in the road.
